I don't get into this stuff much because it seems like nothing more than a waste of time and don't want to become a part of it. I really don't see why anyone would be offended by this stuff. It is kinda ridiculous I think. Some random person makes a tweet and then tons of people tweet and post about it. The last time this happened it was about some game developer slamming Steam and cussing in his tweets. Who cares? Let them vent if they need to vent. It's the Internet and many people post whatever because they are safely out of reach. If they were standing looking you in the eye it would likely be a different story. Others even in person would "blow up" and vent. It happens. Some people have a real problem keeping their emotions in check and have very fragile egos. Easily offended. The first person doing the tweet or post I can understand that one more for the reasons I just mentioned. The other people pouncing on it and spreading it all over the Internet... those are the real issue.

GarBenjamin, normally I would agree with you. But it is very unprofessional. This is one problem with the internet. Venting to your friends at a private gathering or on the phone is one thing. Public statements, which is what tweeting is these days, need to be carefully considered. One should think before they speak, just as they would at a professional public event. Seems overkill, I know, but as Ony said, this stuff stays there forever.

I don't know what is in this woman's heart and I won't judge her too harshly. She lives in this world where people say horrific things on the internet, threaten other people, use words they would never use. Also, she probably has experienced racism, and sadly, as we all know, our own views are shaped by our own experiences. We all have prejudices and we all live with that.

Maybe someday, we will all accept that in ourselves. Then we might be able to actually talk about how we treat other people and not have to use race (or gender) as a crutch or excuse. People treat people badly sometimes, period. It isn't because they are white or black or brown, but because they are just ignorant people. In the meantime, a community manager of a popular site that draws people of all colors should not be out there saying things like this. It only fuels the fire, against people of color and makes us ignore the real issue.

I am not saying what they did is right. I actually don't even know what the rep said. All I am saying is I do not understand why so many people react to these things in the way they do. I agree people can be a-holes period. And sometimes a person is just reacting to something they are going through and lashing out at others. Either way sometimes it is directed down the race avenue. Other times in other ways.

I can understand the company dealing with the problem person. What I don't understand is all of the armchair judges jumping in. In the times things like this happened and I checked it out what I found was many of the critics jumping in were more insulting and overall just worse examples of humanity than the person who made the original post/tweet/whatever.

So what I am getting at is a good step forward would be not to expect that people will never be a "hot head" and post things out of frustration or anger such as the rep did... and instead have the other hundreds and thousands of people stop jumping in fanning the fire. Write to the company directly and tell them they feel the behavior was very unprofessional. Write to the person themselves and tell them the same thing. But don't reply to a post or tweet fueling the fire and worst being more of an ass than the original person was.

Don't take a single incident and turn it into a race war, etc. That's all. I respect your views too Teila. We just all have our own personal views on this stuff and that is okay.

Race issues are not always black and white.

We're told the judge people not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character... To love all people, red people, yellow people, green people, blue people, purple people all the same. Well you know what I say you have to draw the line somewhere...

    Screw purple people.

In my view the problem is that this lady looks at race relations through a slanted eye.

She needs to take off her socks with sandals combo and walk a mile in white people's shoes. Shoes made by her own people... that's when the healing can begin.

The situation is simply too tense, not even a visit to a massage parlor is enough to relax it... So what is needed to bring this all to a happy ending?

Anime and race mixing. Have kids until everybody is a little bit of everything. The problem isn't minorities, it's large groups of homogenous people not getting along. So, when it comes time to marry, get an Asian girl/guy.

I mean, have you seen this gorgeous creature?

If you disagree with me, Hitler thanks you for your solidarity.

And remember... I'm not any race...!!!!
