Hey, just made a little trailer for upcoming RTS set in New York City during prohibition.
The player creates their own mafia family. The focus is on managing illegal activities and the police attention that it generates. The police can be both an enemy and to a certain degree an ally also.

I like it, looks interesting. The style is cool, and the music really fits with the content in the video. Just based on the clip, I'm not totally sure this is an RTS (if you hadn't said so) because I don't see the action of like, units being selected / ordered around, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing for marketing I don't think...

Anyway I wonder though - what platform(s) are you targetting? Mobile? PC?

Looks promising. Reminds me of a game called Gangsters 2 I played back in the day.

I feel from watching the trailer there is a disconnect between the cheerful music and the mature gameplay theme of bootlegging. However maybe it is translated differently in game.

The environment is looking great so far, and it looks like a lot of work was put into the vehicle and pedestrian logic.

Looking forward to your updates, this could be great!

Hey, ya I was going for more of a little 'movie' about prohibition and organized crime using game footage. You're right, I left out major aspects like UI, unit selection and movement, etc.
I might do another trailer showing some game mechanics in the near future.

As of right now it's just for PC/Mac.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Totally inspired by Gangsters 2...I loved that game when it first came out. The focus on Bourbon Empire is more about consequences of illegal activities, you have to deal with police a lot more and mostly through bribing. It becomes a key aspect of running the illegal businesses.

Good point, the music might be a little off for all that violence...I just liked that song a lot.

    Thanks.

From a composer’s point of view, I thought that the music worked quite well. The music is an important part in building the setting in terms of place and time. That is exactly what the track you used does. I don’t feel that a “modern“ soundtrack would be appropriate for the kind of game you are creating. Though, you have to check if you are allowed to use the particular track. Dealing with a copyright law suit might not be something you want to get into after releasing the game.

I've bought some music through a few different sites. They claim that I have license to use it.
