Hey, I've been working on a five person multiplayer game called BOSSMODE. The game is all about hard boss fights. I'm shooting for a mix between raiding in WoW and Shadow of the Colossus.

here's a video demonstrating me playing all five players at once.

hey, thanks. I'm pretty excited about adding new boss mechanics and phases.
one thing I'm not too sure about is whether there should be some kind of specialization or class system, because
    1) it makes you just be less able to do stuff
    2) probably harder to balance and match make.

Yeah I think this is the type of game that can draw a real crowd. Multiplayer games == player engagement. Do you plan to put anything like social leaderboards, or ability to challenge other users? I think if you put some degree of a persistent social challenge that will cause users to beat their previous records, as well as other people's records could really drive long-term retention and engagement of your users.

    4 things
    1. I MUST HAVE THIS GAME
    2. what platform is it for?
    3. you should add the ability to matchmake and let the player play as the boss (online only)
    4. you should make so that everyone can actually die. Ooh and bosses blow up in a bunch of mini-squares when they die! YES!

Also the multiplayer seems to sync well, looks like you know your networking principles. What are you using for networking?

I'm using photon cloud for networking. The actual code is custom physics and transform interpolation stuff that I wrote, and a lot of fine tuning.

    1) awesome!
    2) probably windows mac and linux? right now it requires a controller, and I don't know if you can effectively do a twinstick style game without... twin sticks?
    3) yes, matchmaking is definitely 100% going to need to be in this game
    4) yeah, people should die, and this is only phase one of the first boss, phase three (which is not shown) has the boss splitting into 4 cubes and fighting players individually.

I'm sort of thinking of an episodic content business model, maybe sell each boss for a dollar and only once you've beaten the previous one. Yeah, I think leader boards and challenges would be really good, but I'm still very very early.

Thank you everyone for your very positive feedback!

I've operated a lot of live games in my times as a small developer and for large developers alike, if you want any tips on monetization models I've seen work, feel free to PM me :D.

I'd be happy to contribute to this project if you're looking for any assistance. It would be a great learning opportunity for me as well as free labor for you.

This is possible, but I'm not quite ready to take on responsibilities for collaborators probably, unless you have some certain ideas about what you'd like contribute.

yeah, I got a job at a Real Life Game Studio, and I had to sign a noncompete. so if I continue to work on this game, it will become the property of Activision. Sorry guys! maybe I'll work on this again in the future if I am once again free to do so.

Oh okay, totally understandable! Good luck with your job. I still don't understand those noncompete things though, but it wasn't your choiche.
