Bones not attaching to mesh

    Not sure if I posted a thread about this already, pretty sure I haven't, but here is my issue.

    I tried to attach my bones to my mesh by doing the following.

    I select the mesh and then the bones as tutorials have stated to do.
    I then use ctrl-P and select "with automatic weights".

    In the tutorials then mesh is automatically linked with the bones and moves accordingly... but with mine the mesh is not linked with the bones no matter how many times I try to link them together.

    PS. I did manage to link them once but I have no idea how I did it.


    Please help. I'd really like to learn what I'm doing wrong and move on with my project.



    EDIT: Turns out I had to remove all parenting and then re-add the parenting for some reason. Not sure why but whatever works, I guess.
