So this image here shows you my scene. I was working with the Oculus Rift and the shadows looked alright. However, as I was going to have my project viewed using the Gear VR I had someone help me set it up for that. And then the shadow quality looked different. It became pixelated, as seen in the top image attached.

I have a directional light creating the shadows. I changed the strength, shadow type, resolution, 2x anti-aliasing is also on, etc but nothing improved it. I then found the method of going to "Edit>Project Settings>Quality" and changing the 'shadow distance'. It improved it in Unity (as seen in the bottom image attached). However, not only does it still look a little grainy (it has improved it and I think I will stick with it), but it does not come out in the Gear VR. The Gear VR still has the pixelated shadow. There is also a shadow where it kee

I could not find much online. One thread said to make sure 2x anti-aliasing is on and it is for me. I might be looking in the wrong place and need some much needed guidance. I also read its just how the Gear VR deals with shadows, and how u cant improve it. I dont know :(

    Any help much appreciated :)

Not sure if you have noticed but you have the default quality for Andorid set to Simple (Indicated by the green checkbox in the quality level selector in the column of android).
Use the little arrow below that column to set it to fantastic.

Ah yes that has seemed to have fixed it. I would not have had a clue to look for it there. It improved the shadows however I was not quite happy with they way they looked. So I changed the shadow projection from stable fit (which made shadows look blurry) to close fit, which seemed to get rid of the fuzzyness of the shadows.

Is it ok to use those settings though? As in, will it make the performance poor? Are there better ways to get nice shadows even though they look alright to me now. Can I decrease other settings such as shadow quality etc? I am asking as I not sure if its one of those "never change those settings", within the Unity community who work with shadows...if that makese sense. Below are images of my shadow settings, so maybe you can say whats good and bad to use

    Thanks again :)
