Question Blender export Simple Mesh Deform Animation (as vertex animation)

I hope someone could answer this:

I have an animation I did with keyframing Simple Mesh Deform in Blender. I would like to do a simple thing: Export this animation now to e.g. fbx.

(Please dont answer that you cant export Modifiers, I know, that is not what I am asking for. Sry to be rough but this is the first answer I got in all Blender forums)

All I want is to just export the positions of the vertices at each frame. But Blender just either applies the modifier and the mesh stays static or it does nothing. Keyframing scale and position woks on the other hand.

That is such a simple task it hurts, I found 10 questions in forums asking similar things without getting an answer. Blender must have a function to export this, but how?

I also tried to to bake every frame as a keyframe but this did not help neither.

I write my own animator in the mean time and export every frame one by one, but this is an ugly workaround.
