Very strange! The teaser video a week ago clearly displayed Bolt

as one of the 50% sale items.
BUT the assets isn't on sale. The other assets showed in the teaser video are on sale however.

 

Exactly the same assets as expected.

 

same assets that you already have is put on sale again and again. No new assets are ever on sale

 

If you want to know about those things I suggest you two things:
1. ask some of the asset authors. They most definitly know a bit more than is mentioned.
2. keep track of the daily list updates from unity.
A few days ago I noticed these 3 lists for example:

If you look at them you will see the 50 assets that will be on the sale (50% off) for the second week of the black friday sale from Nov 27 - Dec 8. Also it says, that there will be thousands of other assets on sale with a discount less or equal to 30%.

Some fantastic stuff on sale no doubt thanks for starting the thread Asset_Street.

But I have a couple of questions.

Quick question 1.

You see references to Playmaker all over the place, and all the accolades it receives. And after seeing the post about "Bolt" form SmarthMediaNL, isn't it the same type of asset? So even if Bolt wasn't on sale maybe Playmaker would be an alternative?

I have neither so this is not me "bigging one up against the other. I honestly dont know which is better, or if they are a similar tool set.

Is this the "Unity Holiday sale? Is this how Unity do it. and dont have it on or over the holidays?

No complaints, I just wondered about the timing.

 

I only have playMaker, I’ve got it with Level11 some years ago and never used it until I’ve thought it might be useful for my customers when I add playMaker actions to my assets. So your question made me curious too.

From looking at this review it looks like Bolt is for more advanced users:

 

@Dayn1 why don't you try a different visual scripting package first? To find out your own needs.

Detox studios offers a free evaluation of its UScript Professional. It is a visual scripting tool like PlayMaker and Bolt.
You can use uScript Personal Learning Edition for evaluation and learning as long as you like. It contains all the features of UScript Professional.

Maybe some pro user of visual scripting tools can tell us more about the differences?

I am just about to purchase some graphic assets from the Unity Asset Store (for use in a non-Unity game) when i checked on the T& Cs. They say that you have no rights to the assets in any way, so they are useless for use in your own games right? All IP is owned. What is the point of the asset store, I need to have a decent legal basis to use this content or i am exposing myself and my employer to future litigation, no?

"3.8 You agree that Unity and/or third parties own all right, title and interest in and to the Unity Asset Store and the Assets available through the Unity Asset Store, including without limitation all applicable Intellectual Property Rights in the Unity Asset Store and Assets. will be on sale as the latest reviews are bad and it seems no longer be working in latest unity versions

 

I personally am not interested in a visual scripting tool. But if I was I most likely pick Notttorus

However Bolt seemed a bit girly/cartoony and i hoped my wife would take a crack at coding if she saw Bolt.
As it will be on sale if i understand from the post above i showed it to her but she isn't interested.
a pity! My dream of my wife working with me on my project will remain a dream ;-)

 

I think you misunderstood it the text.
Like everywhere else (Software, 3D models, etc) you buy a license to use it in the way it is described in the license. I think the text says that the original copyright does not change. You can buy it and use it for your game etc. but you cannot resell or license it to others like selling the source code itself or selling a 3D model only etc.
So basically it is like buying a DVD, it gives you the right to watch it, but not the right to rent it to others for money. THe asset store gives you the right to make games with its content but not to resell the content or parts of it as a product itself.

I think sometimes users give bad reviews for no reason based on their bad experience due to their own mistakes.
You could send a mail to the publisher of the asset before you buy it and ask the publisher if there are any problems with the asset and newest Unity versions.

 

Yesterday I bought two assets from black friday sale with my credit card, but I got nothing. My credit card got charged, no invoice via email and those assets are still in my cart, I can't download them. I contacted my bank and I got a response that the seller's bank holding my payment. I contacted unity support but no response yet. I hope they can fix this before the sale ends!
The Asset Store needs a feature to show a notification somewhere that I purchased the assets and payment is in "pending" status!

 

Nottorus looks really interesting, to bad it isn't on sale yet. I love the fact that it generates C# code and actually also can parse C# code to create nodes. I would love to play with this to see what happens!

Guess when it is still in the cart then they have no idea that you really paid. I can imagine their support has an enormous amount of work to do at the moment.

I would say when you don't have an invoice and you can't download it then you have to buy it again anyway. But I have no idea.

Just in case that you get an invoice for the first attempt to buy it later.

I know Asset_Steet already answered this, but my own twopennys worth is. I have known many devs on Steam who directly use Unity store purchased plug-ins and assets. If you buy it, you can legally use it in your own games.

 

Don’t forget to take a closer look at Nottorus too. I still can’t imagine how it works to create nodes from a script and vice versa. But it sounds awesome. I wish it had a trial too :-/

Can anybody explain what happened to Mega-Fiers? It's not listed on the sale page anymore and its back to its original price!

 

Why not Bolt?

 

I was wondering the same thing. Really disappointed, as I was hoping to pick it up.

 

I should have grab it yesterday. It was still on sale that time. A price of $150 down to $75 is gold!

 

Sad times, I was weighing whether I should buy Mega-Fiers... darn you hesitation!

No idea, it went off and this asset replaced it

 

I read somewhere the dev saying that Nottorus is more suited for very advanced users. That's also one of the reasons why the price is so high. Even though automatic script creation and node creation sounds very cool, Nottorus itself looks very complicated to use. You'd be better off with Bold or PlayMaker, really.

 

Today I got a response from the support team and my transaction attempt has been reversed. They told me that the charges should be removed from my bank account within 48 hours.
I tried it again with paypal and I succesfully bought the assets I wanted. I got purchase confirmation email too

Problem solved.
