Very interesting, the engine from the examples looks a bit dated. Although I could see an advantage to an all in one Adobe integration.

It seems they understand the "NO" from Unity Technologies. :p

I also just read about it.
Autodesk was trying to turn Maya into a kinda 'game engine' using their middleware products, but looks like most companies don't want to follow that idea so this may be plan B.
A few years back a studio also transformed Maya into a game engine for PS3 and Square-Enix has deep integration of it for PS4 already with their Luminus engine; Let's see how Autodesk's new product will manage to attract those guys.

From what I gather it's to add to the GameWare test aspect of Maya, i.e. content prototyping rather than whole game prototyping/development.

I didn't gather much, truth be told, but I'd imagine they'd look to buy something far bigger if they wanted to compete with engine middleware.

    Oh... wait...? :)

I almost stopped there. This is the problem with Autodesk, they do have some really great stuff but it's hard to shake the impression that they don't seem to know where their strengths lie, and manage to diminish the whole with lesser parts. Beast is a dinosaur in lighting tech terms.

Don't forget to add VAT, Frank. Nobody using LT should be VAT registered.

A real shame, because I'm enjoying a Maya renaissance, to be reminded why I don't like AD.

Damn that engine looks nice, is cross platform, etc. I'll be curious to see the workflow.

And it is just like UE4; C++ or visual coding. So I think most Unity users will stick to Unity because of C#.

Did you actually test it? How does it work? How good is it?

Exactly. Unity is one of the only engines that you can script in C#.

False, DeltaEngine is full C# by example, and there are a lot others.
