    Sky Master new pack (Core edition) - Submitted for review


    The new Sky Master ("Core") pack has been submitted an will be up sometime next week.
    This new pack will not include GI Proxy and some of the most advanced particle effects (Turbulence and Ice propagation/stick etc), and will contain everything else in Sky Master ULTIMATE, like the volumetric clouds and haze, advanced sky rendering and particle effects like rain, storms, tornados, the Weather manager and effects etc

    The cost will be significantly lower at $55 and the pack will start at an introductory $25 price for a limited time.

    This new version will be ideal for everyone that already has GI Proxy pack and/or Particle Dynamic Magic and needs the volumetric cloud/haze/smoke effects, the day/night cycle and the sky rendering / weather effects-simulation.

    Every customer that already bought Sky Master has bought the ULTIMATE edition with all advanced effects and GI Proxy included, and the name of the pack currently on the store has been changed to reflect that to "Sky Master ULTIMATE".

    The pack will remain in the half introductory price for a limited time after release.

    I compiled a list with some of the features planned for the packs. The base for all these systems has been finilized and I am working on extending features, adding small details and polishing, plus demos and proper prefab creation & testing.

    Features planned for next updates:

    InfiniTREE - Spline system addition, spline based mesh growth, bark sculpting, more LOD options, local gravity and force based tree manipulation in real time, directed branch growth in real time, a bigger grass/tree library and more.



    Particle Dynamic Magic - Masked animated/skinned mesh gameobject particle emission - Advanced spray & stick effects, new spline modes (e.g. extend to enemy, follow ground), two new big effect libraries to add to 200+ current sample effects, more emission option (e.g. along multiple transforms) and much more. DX11 features are also in the works, as an option, these are planned for v2.0 of the pack.

    The sale is going strong, here is some of the WIP for each pack

    Pics from the Android version of the Sky Master (taken from WIP on desktop), all assets and systems have been revised to work faster on mobile.


    Sky Master

    - The realistic and mobile friendly prefabs are nearly complete and will come in the next version.
    - Many new features for controlling particle counts of the various effects have been added for added ease of use and performance control.
    - The terrain will receive a volume fog shader that will enable an atmospheric scattering controlled fog, which will also work in Unity Free. The plan is to also provide a system that will optionaly change the shader of any item that goes far into the fog to this shader, so all items may appear to vanish in the fog.
    - Volumetric clouds now have two new motion features, turbulence and various higher level wind controls.

    InfiniTREE

    - The user directed tree growth has reached another milestone, the child branches connect nicely to their parent ones using a precise match.

    - The system may also be used with physics
    , e.g. it is possible to grow a vine by letting it flow down a wall etc. Texturing of the dynamic mesh has also been finilized.

    Particle Dynamic Magic

    - The finer details of the masked gameobject particle emission from skinned/animated meshes have been finilized and now everything is controllable and the mask can control the gameobject sizes, particle emission etc. Particles may also be assigned the texture colors.

    - A new mode is coming in Image based emission, that will let it fit better in the overall system and allow total control of the image emitted particles.

    - Particles may now emit from multiple transforms and follow their properties - direction.

    - Many other features and new effect libraries are also WIP, the goal is to have at least 250 ready to use effects when v1.8 is released.

    GI Proxy

    - A day/night cycle system is integrated and will arrive in the next version.
    - 3rd light bounces are currently in the works

    New volumetric cloud formation, motion and texture options




    New terrain atmospheric scattering & fog features



    Update on Sky Master v1.5 (coming soon):

    The two new big features for v1.5 are now almost ready for release and working great.

    - New volumetric cloud motion and formation features. Turbulent and waving motion is now possible in the volumetric cloud bed, as well as various inner cloud motions and formation, like base flattening etc. New textures and styles will also be available, to further enchance the artistic options.

    - Terrain (mesh & Unity) atmospheric scattering and fog emulation.
    Special shaders bring the connection of fog-sky to a whole new level, with full support for Unity Free & Pro. The shaders can be used on mesh as well as on Unity terrain and also on any other object (mesh version).

    The new v1.5 will also include a big number of enchancements and controls for performance, enchanced ease of use and documentation, as well as two new prefabs, one with optimization for mobile and lower end systems and one with focus on realism.




    More cool new features are almost ready for release !!!!

    Sky Master v1.5 will also include full UNITY 5 support,
    with a new shader that will work directly in Unity Skybox !!!! This allows for maximum performance (everything is shader based, no extra calculations in script) and compatibility (automatic integration with the new Enlighten system since it is directly applied to the Unity skybox)

    I have not tested it with Unity terrain, but given the heavilly scripted nature and dynamic focus it may have some issues if used as a Unity terrain tree.

    If composer can spread trees without having to use the terrain, it could be done by placing the generation script with the composer and have the system grow the trees in play mode (or create a tree in editor and copy it etc)

    I dont know how composer works exactly though, so i cant provide more details. I have composer and will check it and post results/details.

    About Unity 5 support.

    Two of the packs have been extensively tested (Sky Master and Particle Dynamic Magic) and need minor changes in a few lines in only in one file, everything else works great. The detailed changes are listed in the official threads for both packs.

    GI Proxy will work as well without any changes.

    Two of the the packs need only a change in 3-4 lines in one file. The changes available in the PDM and Sky Master threads and will also be included as a package file in the next updates.

    Sky Master v1.5 has been submitted and pending review !!!!!

    The demo showcases the new skybox mode integration with IBL and GI in Unity 5. The baking of indirect light did not actually finish after two days, so i will follow with a new demo when i manage to bake it properly. Still it seems to work rather nice.


    Also note that the Heavy Storm is in time lapse mode, please use the other demos for the more realistic speed for clouds.

    A demo for the scatter fog and new performance oriented assets will also follow later.

    The sale is still active until it has passed review !!! Make sure to grab the asset before it goes back to the normal price.

    A massive update is also 99% ready for InfiniTREE (will submit early next week, doing the documentation and testing) and 90% ready for Particle Dynamic Magic.

    - Uses Shuriken particles and is compatible and applicable to every single Shuriken particle in the asset store. No more making all effects from scratch using a closed system. Breath new air and dynamics to all existing Shuriken effects in the store !!!!
    - Multithreaded and optimized, with constant updates to sqeeze every bit of performance possible, while allowing maximim usuability.
    - Extremely easy to use, the 200+ samples (soon to be 250-300 in v1.8) covers every advanced setup possibility, with ready to use prefabs that can be instantiated from the included prefab manager.
    - Extremely easy to adapt and expand. The scripts are not hidden within a impossible to decypher formation of code usually found in such complex systems and each system can act as standalone, for much better clarity and the ability to include only what is atually needed in your project.
    - Complete control of particles, with advanced effects like Gravity, Turbulence and dynamic vortex creation.
    - Infinite emission posibilities, emit from procedural/skinned mesh (with or without mask, inherit texture colors option), projected, painted, propagated, sprayed positions and much more

    Update:

    Gameobject Particles AI module (Particle Dynamic Magic v1.8)
    The new Gameobject Particle AI module is now working great and i am adding the final details and more options. This new system will allow gameobject particles to think and react to the environment, with various options for emulating flocks, swarms and much more, while applying all Particle Dynamic Magic forces (if required).

    That means that insects under a gravity pull will still react and try to avoid each other, plus the environment, than just be dragged by the force.

    And that is only the begining of the possibilities with the system.

    As a first application i will have emulation of bird and buttefly swarms and fish schools, maybe a herd as well (since the system is ground/environment aware and needs only a few considerations with the animations and a randomized waypoint system to cover everything)

    Decal system (Particle Dynamic Magic v2.0)

    Decals are fully comtrollable, it is easy to add particles, items and any kind of resizing / delay to the effect. Decals can fade in chosen time, stay forever etc

    Any number of casters can be attached to one pool of decals and move independently. Decals can also be pre-painted or static if desired.

    Sky Master used with HorizON asset. Unity 5 image effects are used for the sun beams through the dynamic clouds.

    The sky and volume clouds take just two draw calls, for ultimate optimization. The skybox mode also offer ultimate compatibility with all Unity 5 features (IBL, PBS, GI).
