I was exploring the "Window" menu and noticed a "Look Dev" view. I clicked on it, a small blank window opened on the top left of the screen and my computer completely froze. Even Ctrl+Alt+Del didn't work. What is this view about?
It will be a tool for artists to check assets quickly under various lighting conditions. If it freezes and crashes your Unity please file a bug report about it.
Cannot do that; it doesn't freeze or crashes Unity, it freeze my computer entirely. Reporting such a bug from a new instance of Unity will be useless.
We'll be disabling Look Dev for 5.5 as we have some usability concerns. It should be removed from the menu soon.
It's a industry consistent name from film and such. So, we plan on sticking with Look Dev, from last time I checked with folk.
So it seems: http://www.cgchannel.com/2012/10/10-tips-for-lighting-and-look-development/ I had never heard of it before today though.
Hey, you file a report from a new instance. When filing a bug report it will attach the editor log from the previous editor run too so we can have a peak.
Ah thanks. I'm afraid said editor log is long gone now and I don't feel like to open that window again.
Anyway, it seems that reporting bugs doesn't work. I just reported another bug and only the title shows up. I didn't send an empty bug report.
Btw look dev UI text are seems bit blurred, just want to check if it's just my eyes or everyone getting blurred text in Look Dev UI?
Don't post private fogbugs URLs. This will allow anyone to see all your bugs, possibly with private information inside. Posting the bug number is enough, Unity people will be able to see it with just the number.
I have the same issue, but Unity can still see the description internally. I asked about this issue a few days ago here, their reply was this: I also submitted a bug-report regarding this issue, it's tracked as: (Case 826937) Missing description in reported bug-reports
