Well I updated to 21 and everything seemed to be okay until I opened up some other scenes. About half of our scenes work and half of them hard crash unity when opening. I can't think of any correlation between the ones that are okay versus the broken ones. We are using Unity Asset Server so reverting isn't an option. I have attached the logs from the unity crash handler and a text files containing one of my working scenes and one of my broken scenes. I don't know how helpful they will be but I'm at my wits end. Please save me.

Trying to rollback to the beta 17 distribution, only the file on the unity server is broken. Download finishes at 6MB...

So one of our computers was still on b17 and all the scenes work. I resaved one of the broken scenes and commited it. I can now open the scene on the other computers and unity now crashes on play. So... progress?

Well we managed to fix all of the broken scenes. All with a different process of events. First if a scene on the b17 machine had all object in the hierarchy deactivated and then commited it could be reopened on the b21 computers. Then we systematically reenabled objects and entered playmode till a crash would inevitability occur. On some of the levels deleting a prefab containing runtime generated meshes would fix it. On others it appears as though deleting a group of objects and then undoing the delete would work. I think for the time being we can stay at b21.

My scene also crashes unity with b21. Almost certain it has something to do with UI because I disabled a hierarchy of UI components and the scene crashed Unity; I changed the hierarchy of the UI objects and then unity was unable to open the scene and constantly crashed the editor. I sent a bug report to unity with my project files. Hope this gets fixed soon!

Edit: I thought I was using b21. I was actually using b20. Bug got fixed as soon as I updated. Thanks UT!

The problem has not been fixed and because we can't find a solution we have decided to abandon beta 21 and rollback the editor and the projects packages to version 20. Hopefully we can continue working afterwards.
