Best way to make navigating gameobjects see one another as obstacles? (Novice, The A* Project)

    Hello. I am using The A* Project plugin for pathfinding in a 2d game. Things are going pretty smoothly, except for one major problem: if I make the graph register the moving game objects as obstacles, then those game objects can't move. They each are trapped in their own non-navigable space. Is there anyone familiar with The A* Project that can give a recommendation for this issue? I know that the A* Project has something called "Local Avoidance" which might be what I'm looking for, but I'd like to avoid paying $100 for software at this very-early stage in my development process. Any help would be appreciated.
