Best practice for temporarily disabling user UI interaction?

    Is there a reason or benefit to enabling/disabling the EventSystem component itself versus the whole gameobject? Does toggling the active state of the gameobject reset the component, and could this cause issues?

    The benefit I can see to enabling/disabling the gameobject is that is animatable, so a timeline could turn that on and off.
