    Hi all,
I have an iPhone 6s plus on a Verizon plan here in the US.

I am very interested in exploring GearVR dev, but really don't need a new phone plan. I image I can buy a new S6 from somewhere, but I was interested in learning about the most economical options that folk have encountered in acquiring a compatible phone.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Best,
    B.

    VRGear?

    You mean GearVR?

The devices that support it are only a handful, you don't have a lot of choice.

Also, you can buy phones out of contract, right? (I'm guessing you're in USA? That's the only place where it's supposedly weird to just flat out go and buy a phone without a plan :p )

i imagine you can, but I never have. My question is if there are better options for such purchases. With the S7 somewhere on the horizon, might folks be looking to upgrade and can you buy a phone say off eBay or directly from someone and it be functional for VR building? I have no idea. Hence asking. : )

    Thanks for the input though.

Hi, @outtoplay - Any phone supported by the GearVR will automatically set up when you plug it in to the headset. I've got an extra Galaxy Note 5 and sent you a private message about this.

If you just want a testing device, buy a phone from ebay that has a bad esn code. It won't work for phone calls but it's fine for testing. I picked up 2 Galaxy S6 devices for $250 each. For iPhone's look for a used phone from Swappa.
