best all round mobile device to test your apps/games on?

    Hi,

    I'm a PC user and I've never bought a smart-phone or a tablet, now could you recommend for me such a device for a first time user? my prime focus is to check the compatibility of my games/apps and the rest would be gravy, I'm in the UK and I've been looking around amazon etc, any advice would be much appreciated, cheers
