Base Pass Selection Broken in 2021.2

    We reported in the issue below that basemap / firstpass selection is broken with terrain and orthographic cameras in 2021.2. In fact, it seems to be broken semi-randomly (I can't even force terrain in ortho cams to ALWAYS use the basemap shader, although that's not what I want) Long shot, but is anyone at Unity able to give a likely timeline for a fix? Our map is a key part of the product, and relies on having high quality terrain rendering.

    We've tried forcing the base shader to actually sample splatmaps, but that doesn't work because the engine doesn't bind to the splatmap samplers when rendering base passes.

    We're considering the nuclear option of assigning our own splatmap textures in terrain materials, and building our own system to handle this, because we'd really like to migrate from 2020 LTS to 2021. Is there any possibility this will be fixed soon so we don't have to?
