Baking 4096x4096 lightmaps hangs straight out of the gate (but 2048x2048 works fine).

    Hi there.
I am trying to baake the lightmaps for my environment, but have hit a snag.
We need to use the highest resolution possible - 4096x4096.
However, when I try to bake at this resolution the process doesn't go anywhere; it just sits right at the start of the "Baking..." phase.

There aren't any error messages. I can still go about my other Unity business... but an hour or so later, still no progress.

Conversely, if I switch to 2048x2048 everything works fine - lightmaps all done in about 20 minutes.

Any idea how to fix it?

    Cheers,
    Dan

Please post a screenshot of the Lighting window setting so we can tell if you are using Enlighten or CPU lightmapper etc. Also it would be great to know how much memory your machine has as it might fail to start baking if you have too little main memory. This will be printed in the editor log so please attach that too if possible. Thanks!

    Thanks, KEnglesoft.
    Here is the info...

    Lighting Settings

Error Log when baking @ 4096 is totally empty.

I have 16GB of RAM (although it looks like Chrome is gobbling up a fair chunk...)

Does it make a difference if you close chrome (to make more RAM available for Unity)?

One more question, does it make a difference if you uncheck prioritize view?

Thanks, KEnglestoft - that did it!
I tried with no other applicatins running, and it baked a bit... then jammed again (no CPU activity, and the clock was counting up, instead of down).
I switched off Prioritize View and it worked a treat.
    Good call!
