I left the bake running over night, it appears to be still going but the memory profiler graph shows a distinct pattern and I'm wondering if it is stuck in a loop continually trying to do what ever it is doing cause that log message has appeared 999+ times.

I am baking 9 Terrain tiles each terrain is a 2048 height field.

Hi! Did you file a bug report with your scene? Did you get any messages before 'Failed reading albedo texture file'?

To work through this error I went to the Project tab and clicked on "All Materials". Several materials needed the texture to be assigned. Many of the imported materials had the default texture (gray) so I assigned them the in the material's inspector. Also, and this was probably the problem, there was a bright pink "error shader" for one of the materials. Setting this to the standard shader and then setting up the material fixed it. The bake continued and eventually moved on to the next stage. Hope this helps others who bump into this error.

Thanks, I noticed several materials in my project didn't have albedos assigned to them (Just a color, albedo slot was blank). Assigning a texture solved my issue. This has never been a problem before... I think there should be a force check to assign a texture if it causes an error when baking???

Check the size of your GI Cache - you might have run out of room in your GI Cache: from the tool bar select Edit > Preferences > GI Cache compare the current Cache Size at the Maximum Cache Size. You can either click the Clean Cache button to clear out the cache, or increase the Maximum Cache Size (max is 200GB).
