Hey guys, so I've been working on some forums for strictly indie developers where we discuss the best money making techniques, how to rank high in the stores, ad revenue, and all kinds of helpful strategies to make our games successful.

It's not completely done, but I would love some feedback on what you guys think and some suggestions you may have, like forum categories you would like to have, and anything else you would love to see in forums.

I also will be looking for some moderators, so if you are interested let me know!

When it's completely done I will be promoting it on my youtube with 50,000 subscribers, so we can expect to see a lot of members, and I plan on growing it huge.

My partner who is the admin, has over 10 million downloads on his games, and he will be sharing all his strategies and techniques and helping people who are struggling to see their games take off. He is a pro, and has invaluable information that will definitely help all devs.

Everyone who registers now, and makes at least one post before release, I will give them a special badge by their name that only you guys will be able to have, and it will look so awesome everyone will be jealous lol.

Thanks guys, and let me know what you think!

Badges are too large : P

My advice to you guys if you want to build a community then I would suggest spend some money by advertising on Reddit.

Hi, really nice looking website! I recently launched a website that is dedicated at covering indie MMO's. I look forward to seeing your website grow and being able to pull titles from it to showcase them in a more editorial light!

Good luck! I'll be signing up!

I see flame bait right on your table of contents: "Engine War. Which Is The Best?" Is that really how you want to set the tone?

I might end up posting. But what should I expect to gain there that I can't get here?

A different community and broader topics of conversation? This place is oddly Unity-specific for some reason I can't quite put my finger on... ;)

You should probably change the logo of the "game engines" forum...

Why are you stealing Battle.net's images and styles? You could have problems, just saying.

He didn't make this style by himself. It's a phpBB theme called PBWoW.

I will probably re-make all the badges at a later time
Yea it's a free theme a lot of people have who just upgraded to the latest phpbb.

But thanks for accusing me of stealing, I appreciate it.

So forcing users to resize and resolution adjust their own avatar? Definitely proves you have some computing skill if you have an avatar. But its kind of annoying and old school.

While you are using the Battle.net logo you should assume that no one is taking you seriously.

It's forcing you to resize your avatar??

I thought that 512x512 would be plenty big enough and you wouldn't have to resize.
These avatars unity is using are like 100x100.
Should I set them even bigger??

No the size is fine. Smaller wouldn't bother me either. But most forums will automatically resize your avatar if its too big. Having to open up photoshop to build a low res image took a few minutes. That is all.

    Site looks nice, good luck!

"Password: Must be between 6 characters and 100 characters."
No way I could ever remember a 100 character long password. lol

Just so you know, after I made a few posts it still says "1-post wonder" next to my avatar.

Also, what will the buttons at the top be for, the ones that say "developer blogs" and "game reviews"?

I bet you could. Got a favorite quote?

    XKCD.

The 15ish character max lengths for passwords some places have are bollocks, and the oft preached advice of memorizing 7ish to 12ish semi-random characters is silly because it makes things hard for brains to remember and easier for computers to crack.

The real issue with a 100 character password is how long it'd take to type. But you don't need anywhere near 100 characters, and typing them in less is a generally better solution than typing them in faster.

Try typing your normal password in once, then once again holding shift. Should satisfy most sites.

Actually I thought it was kind of funny. Offensive, in a way - a good way ;-) game-devs need to be able to take that with pride ;-)

Just a "small thing": I think as a "founder" of a community like that, you probably shouldn't write comments about being able to get "anything" for free that you need. Also, the "Free 5 Star Reviews" forum appears a little fishy to me.

He's using phpBB which does not support it by default. There are plugins to handle it though.

I gotta ask, what's the hook?

Why this forum and not one of the several other indy developer sites?

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be rude, I'm genuinely asking.

So whats this free 5 star reviews about? Seems to be a bit underhand? Not, being rude, it just seems a little odd...

i was going to discuss my methods of getting 5 star reviews.
like from when I last streamed on twitch I got like 15 people who gave me 5 star reviews.
I was also thinking everyone could post their game and we could give each other 5 star reviews.
I have a lot going on right now like trying to get my update for iOS released, should take me a couple days then I will be able to focus more on the website and get it updated

critique: the icons are very big, and could use some tone-control to add some subtlety and make them feel like part of the same site.

Ya bad idea to have people asking for 5 star reviews, people should only give them if they feel it deserves it, I would never ask someone to give me any stars for anything I been running games sites for over 10 years.
