Question Autodesk FBX SDK for Unity. Import FBX.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the share of this plugin.
    By the way i try to use the FBX import feature and especially "File/Import FBX/WIP 04. Import UVs".
    (as it is indicated it is still in WIP).
    My feedbacks according my 3D model which loads perfectly using native Unity3D model import:
    - it does not load properly.
    - i have tons of errors:
    -Failed setting triangles. The number of supplied triangle indices must be a multiple of 3.
    -unsupported UV-to-Component mapping mode.
    -..
    - the render is not good.

    I still can't figure out where the problems are coming from, if it's inside the native SDK or just in the model display. Even if i think it is just the script "FbxImporter04.cs/"File/Import FBX/WIP 04. Import UVs"" which is unfinished.

    Will this feature be improved soon by your team ?
    Would a pull request (from our team) be accepted ?

    Hi Grégoire,

    Thank you for the feedback. The examples for FBX import have not been changed for a while, they might have worked on older Unity/FBX versions, but the script likely needs an update.
    We don't have plans to update the import examples at this time.

    However, contributions are welcome! If you expose more of the FBX SDK to C#, please add unit tests as well for the exposed fields/functions.

    For resolving some of the issues with the importer, it might help to take a look at how the FBX exporter exports the data, for reference: https://github.com/Unity-Technologi....unity.formats.fbx/Editor/FbxExporter.cs#L439

    Another question, will the SDK could work on Linux ?
    It is actually indicated:
    • Linux: not supported

    Hello again,
    I also try to make it work under standalone win64 build (by copying the native plugin under runtime/plugins) but it seems incompatible.

    The package is just for the Editor ?

    @vkovec Is there still a plan to expose more of the *full* SDK? I would like to use it for runtime importing (only care about mesh data) but basic methods like GetControlPoints() aren't even exposed in the current state.
