Hi, all my audio mixers are inactive by default when I create them, and I can't find any way to activate them. My audio is enable in the projectSettings. Any idea ?

Audio Mixers are inactive when they're not being used and by default this kicks in when the level is less than -80db. This is a good thing, because it saves on processing power unless, for some reason, it's causing you an issue?

If you do want to turn it off, you can. Just select the mixer and uncheck 'Auto Mixer Suspend' in the inspector.

I unchecked the Auto Mixer Suspend but it doesn't change anything. I see the volume level of the mixer changing when I play the sound, but no noise is coming out. Although my sound works when I play it from the inspector

Then I think you’ve got a different issue.

Any chance you’re missing an audio listener in the scene?

If you remove the audio mixer output from an audio source do you get the same issue?

If I add an audio mixer output, I see the mixer having some sound, but no noise is coming out.
if I remove it, nothing happens on the mixer, and still no noise

    Probably not the mixer then.

What about the audio source settings? Can I see those, also are you using multiple audio sources, if so do any of them work ok?

This is the only audio source on the scene. I tried adding some sound in a new blank project, it doesn't work either.
I installed the last version of Unity, it doesn't change anything...

Yeah nothing looks wrong to me there.

Then I'm not sure what could be causing this, if you can hear it in the inspector, but not the scene, but it appears to be playing back correctly (from the audio mixer meter level). You may want to repost this with a new title, since I don't think it's to do with the mixer. Someone may have had the same issue before.

Same happening to me :( I'm running Unity 2019.2 ( Macos Catalina) and sound not coming out. It says the audio listener is inactive. I've already checked the project settings and everything seems fine.

Check the "Mute Audio" button on a game window.

I feel like an absolute dunce. I had this issue, spent 30 minutes tracking it down and it was the "Mute Audio" button that I'd accidentally pressed when switching off "Maximize On Play"
