Audio Audio Adjustments - Too quiet, Too loud..

Hey guys!

I am in the final stages of my current project and equalizing all of my audio. Normally I do this with my 5.1 surround sound, but since I have moved recently to a different work area - which is a bigger room with wood floor and not much furniture - a lot of sound bleeds all over the room. So I decided to make my audio adjustments using a headset.

The 'issue' I am having now is.. I have the entirety of the games audio equalized for my headset. Now when I disconnect my headset and run through the game with my normal surround sound speakers - it is pretty much silent (with system all the way up). Not sure why the difference would be so drastic. I realize this room has awful acoustics but I should still be able to hear stuff. Is it just the fact that this room is terrible for audio or could something else be wrong? Like I said, I have it tuned excellently for headset play.
