Sorry guys I do apologize for not being around. Had a bunch of things happen all of a sudden, most important one was one of our coders had to be taken up in hospital more than 3 weeks ago and nearly did not make it. He was working on our 2.4 release of Atavism release. As other programer is on leave and I cant get hold of him, it was a bit of a flat spin getting everything on track again with the 2.4 release which I am happy to say is sorted now. So I can now get all the UMA assets updated and released. Looking back on the wall units that was done by us, which is not the ones you saw in our videos as they are actually assets bought from the asset store, I was not happy with how good they look so am redoing them. I will try and start getting assets out this Monday, Tuesday for you guys.

Here is a glimpse of new armor set being done for new UMA as well. With UMA we will be releasing two versions of say a chest where one is cut of by the elbows so you can just add the gloves part and other one is right to the hands that way it makes it easier to switch stuff and also don't have a underlying mesh of the old body which adds extra pollies.

Nicely done! Please make sure there are not holes like in the last ones. :) I would love to use these in my game.

Next release is in two weeks which will be fully Unity 5 supported. Current version you have to make three adjustment to scripts to get it to work with unity 5 but its pretty easy.

Any chance this is happening? "This monday/tuesday" has long passed once again. Sorry to hear about the coder and hope they are doing better. Unfortunately broken promises seem to be a part of Atavism's business model. Would be nice to get realistic estimates and have you guys actually produce on time for a change. Sorry to seem critical. Usually consistency is good, but not when it is consistent excuses. :(

As far as the wall units, I kind of feel misled.. You guys showed those and then told us wall units were part of the developer pack. Now we are being told, "Oh.. Those that we showed were not the ones you are getting."

So what is the progress of the stuff that was supposed to be released for developers pack a couple of weeks ago and what type of time frame are we looking at for the modular building stuff?

Yeah, gotta agree with Shawn. We spent hundreds of dollars and were misled. We were shown the building parts and told that everything in Neosworld would be ours if we bought the Developers kit. It has been over a year and the clothing in Neosworld and everything else has never come to us. I think two UMA clothing parts were released and due to issues, really are not really something I could use. So...the $3000 worth of assets we were promised so far has amounted to about $30.

I get that time can be your worst enemy, but why not just release the assets from NeosWorld to us? That would be a nice start.

At the very least, give us a link to those walls from the asset store so we can purchase them ourselves if we wish to do so. I don't recall seeing those....

Hmmm after reading a few posts this certainly helps me in not going with this plugin especially if other people have been waiting a long time for products that haven't been delivered. There certainly doesn't look like an option to get a refund either if the product fails to deliver.

Atavism 2.4 has been released. Below is the changelog with changes that has been done and instructions on how to update. From here on forward Atavism will only support Unity 5 and upwards due to the fact that Unity made allot of changes from Unity 4 to 5.

    Atavism Unity Beta 2.4 Changelogs

Release 2.4 is a minor release that has been created to allow Atavism to run on Unity 5. A few of the changes originally planned for 2.4 have been implemented along with the start of the API tidy up and improvements. Some other features for 2.4 were dropped so we could get Unity 5 support running sooner rather than later. You will note the Baseline NavMesh system is in place but is currently not working yet like we need it to so its not added below as a update. A new roadmap will be released shortly.

You should not need to wipe any existing characters, but as all updates there are a couple changes to the world_content and admin databases which can be updated by running the sql update file (explained below).

    Major Changes:
    Mail System:
    • A mail system has been added allowing players to send messages, items and currency to each other. See Mail System
    • Developers can choose between using Mailbox objects in their world to bring up the Mail UI or using a key binding allowing players to open the Mail UI at any time.
    • Cash on Delivery is supported allowing players to charge other players for the items they send them.
    Minor Changes / Improvements:
    General:
    • Changed the default animation name for the StandardMeleeAttack coordEffect prefab to 'Attack' to match the parameter in the default AnimatorController.
    Atavism Unity API Improvements:
The majority of Atavism provided classes and files have been renamed to have the word “Atavism” at the start. As a result, pretty much every file has been modified with updated references.
    • Improved the Cursor API to make it easier to get and set the item, ability or bag that the cursor is currently holding.
    • Added a new AtavismUIManager class that will be the central file for managing the UI of the game. For users upgrading an existing project, make sure the component is on your UI prefab.
    • Deleted the AtavismObjects/UI folder, moved files into AtavismObjects/Scripts/UI Components folder so all UI files are now in the same location.
    • Deleted the StandardAssets/AtavismCore/World.cs file. It was redundant.
    AGIS API Improvements:
    • Renamed EquipHelper.CalcValue() to EquipHelper.UpdateEquiperStats() to better reflect what the function does.
    • Renamed AgisInventoryClient.EquipBonusMessage to AgisInventoryClient.ItemEquipStatusChangeMessage.
    • Added AgisInventoryClient.ItemAcquireStatusChangeMessage which is sent when a player acquires or loses an item. This is caught by CombatPlugin.ItemAcquireStatusChangeHook.
    • Added a UnAcquireHook which allows the running of functions when a player removes an item from their bag.
    • Tidied up the SkillInfo class adding new functions for learning and unlearning abilities and moved the calculation for skill up chance to the CombatHelper class.
    • Added EventMessageHelper.java class to the atavism.agis.util package. This class will be used to send event messages to the client for combat and inventory events.
    Atavism Editor:
    • Database connection settings are now saved per project. For those who have multiple projects they won't have to worry about changing their settings every time they change project, just the first time.
    • The Skills Plugin class drop down now links to the class list created in the Option Choices plugin.
    • Craft recipes now allow the developer to set an amount of the result item to be given.
    • The Resource Nodes plugin now has two different buttons, one to insert data and one to delete existing data.
    UMA:
Created a new UMAEquipmentDisplay class for UMA items. This should be used for all items that are part of the UMA character and the original EquipmentDisplay should be used for items that are attached (such as weapons in the hand). This will also fix the error that users who purchased Atavism from Unity are having when importing the UMA project.

    Fixes Minor:
    • Walking can now be toggled using the key binding set on the Atavism 3rdPersonInput.
    • ResourceNode harvesting has been fixed to prevent users getting 0 or negative items. Players will only get skill gains when successfully harvesting from a node.
    • Fixed an issue that was causing targeting or the whole game to break when a targeted mob despawns.
    • The tag owner property on a mob is now set when using any attacking ability, not just auto attack.
    • Fixed an issue where after clicking “Test Connection” in the Database plugin other plugins wouldn't load data correctly.

The current version is only update as of right now on our Store, Steam will be updated shortly and Unity takes usually a day or two for them to approve it.

Due to the amount of work coming up we will no longer release small bits here and there and will rather release assets for the developer package in big chunks along side the release of a Neos Land Build as the assets we have in that build is then viewable to the public. Next release for Neos Land is scheduled end of June for players to play test. We have also removed the sales of the Developers Package from now on so those who has bought it already will be the only once receiving the assets from here on forward.

As an owner of the developer pack, I am wondering what small bits were released. I think I have one armor pack and a few overlay clothing pieces. Are those the bits or did I miss something?

    Thanks for the information, btw.

Hmm, that link goes to a forum that has nothing listed but your intro. :) I will check my account and see if I missed some downloads. Maybe your are calling the overlay clothing armor. I do remember the icon set.

    Thanks.

I think he may be breaking out the clothing sets that were in Fantasy Armor Set 2 and referring to each clothing set as an armor set. I got same as what you listed Warborn. To be honest, I'm a bit disheartened with what we have received so far compared to what we were promised. Wasn't expecting it to take years to see our "$3000 worth of assets" but it has already been a year and we've barely seen $100 worth.. If even that. :( Hopefully things will turn around soon and we'll actually start getting some return on our investment.

I wish armor set 2 had been the one at the top of the page that we never received. Instead it is four overlays, flat and with holes. Ah well.

I would really like that armor on the top of the page.

Ditto.. To be honest, I doubt I'll use the first set.. At least not without some major reworking. Looks a little too cartoonish for what I'm planning. The ones up above that were last announced and we never received, those are much more in line with what I was envisioning we would be getting. Also wondering what happened with the race models, modular building parts and props.

I saw this on the Atavism forums posted by you, Jacques:
That's the package e sold that gives you the assets from Neos Land that we create our self's. So far we have spend over $5000 on the assets we are releasing. many people have no idea how much it costs to make those things so it will be well worth it.As most of the assets are done by contractors just one armor set runs into around a $1000 a set.

So, I am curious. Does that mean we may get 5 pieces of armor and are told that it cost 5k for that armor? I am not sure 1k for that armor is really the market value. Besides, the second set was just overlays...and it was not fit for public consumption, as you must know because you never put it on the asset store...or maybe it was rejected, who knows.

You promised us the modular building pieces so I sure hope we don't just get 2 sets of armor and some overlays. They are were exclusive items, contracted for your game specifically, which is why they cost you $1000. We are getting them as non-exclusive items so they might be worth $50 tops per set of armor. Look at WillB's items, which are just as good. His Wolf Armor is comparable. That is the market price for non-exclusive UMA armor. The overlays are worth much less, maybe $10 for the pack.

I expect at least $350 market value's worth of items, even though we were promised $3000.

To answer that, what something costs is not what we can sell it at so those even though they cost allot will only be sold for $25 to $60. There are other assets and we will be releasing assets till we finish Neos Land. Please if you can it would be greatly appreciated if you can direct your questions to that forum post I stated for the assets specifically on Atavism forums as the assets does not come with Atavism itself and is basically a separate package thus confusing people that come here for the Atavism Package.

Ahh, I understand. I will make sure I make it clear that the developers package does not exist anymore. I honestly doubt I would be welcome in the Atavism forum due to my criticism so prefer not to post there. My past experience with some of the fans on that forum have not been pleasant to those who don't tow the line. :)

I won't post here if all goes well and will trust the assets will start flowing in June. Thank you!

I'm kinda in the same boat with Teila with posting on the Atavism forums. I'd rather just get what we were promised so I don't have to post anywhere. At this point I'd be just as happy to get my money back and not have to worry about it. But I doubt that will happen.. At any rate, will stand down for now and watch for the assets those of us who bought into the Developer Pack were promised to start flowing again in June.

btw, wanted to edit something...I saw the pictures you posted and they are not overlays. I forgot those and was thinking of some others you gave me. Those are very good but I do remember they had some holes. I assume you have fixed those and will try them again.

I do love it when people tell us to go join another forum when 90% of the people that are having issues are from here, this is the whole point of this thread. Complete waste of time joining the other forum.

Would love to see where you get that 90% number. I know TONS of people that don't even touch the unity forums.

For support, using a general unity forum thread for an asset SUCKS for trying to find if a problem as been reported and resolved before. Using real forums for the specific asset or an author using their own forums to support all their assets makes the problems and resolutions more accessible for anyone who may have that problem in the future. It is a much better way to support something than having a 300 page thread to go through.

Generally speaking, I usually tend to take asset authors who provide their own forums for support a bit more seriously. There are exceptions to this. But for the most part if they don't have a forum you have to really wonder how serious they are about supporting their asset and how long they will actually be around.

btw.. I think the "whole point of this thread" and others within this section is to bring awareness of the asset, not necessarily provide support for the asset. ;)

I prefer the Unity forums. More public. :) Developers care what people read here and they can't delete negative posts, not saying Atavism is doing that, but still...some folks might.

Posting complaints, I agree.. Getting support, wading through pages and pages of posts in a thread to avoid asking questions that have already been asked and answered is rough. I'd rather be able to look through forum thread titles and see if problem has already been reported and solved before posting and waiting for an answer. heheh

I agree with Shawn, if an asset has its own support forum I feel a lot more secure in my purchase.
Saying that, the asset creator needs to be active on Unity also to provide general feedback.

I have found a lot of asset creators I have spoken to are also very prompt with PM replies.

Biggest reason for using our forum for support is that we have a live chat channel there where developers can talk to each other directly and get help. There wont always be someone around but so far we usually have a few developers around to help out even if we are not around.

Hi Cook, I saw this post you made on the UniStorm thread. Is this plugin linking UniStorm with Atavism available for use?
