Is it normal that it takes 3-5 minutes to load the asset store from Unity or is something wrong with my installation?
In any browser the store loads within seconds but from Unity it takes minutes (if it doesn't crash).

Same issue here. It does that from time to time but recently it's getting worse, loading times that is. I've found that it's best to browse the store on the web and add things to my wishlist then when access through the unity editor is sorted I access the wishlist and download/buy what I need.

It's always super slow for me when I access it from the Editor. I just use the web-based store and when I find something I want to buy then I open the one in the editor.

Same here. The lack of tabs also makes it real annoying to look at multiple products. I'm surprised people bought anything before the web version was released.

Well it was not that slow in the times before Unity v3.?
I wonder why Unity doesn't overwork the shop cause this 'bug' was posted many times before and the store is a good way to earn some cents for Unity and the developers and a fine thing for the people who search for assets.
    So it's a win-win-win thing :D

I'm also missing a sort function in the search results of the store.
It's terrible to browse through a hundret of found objects without a sort function.

I'll contact the Unity support and point them to the forum thread.

The newer version of Unity doesn't allow me to access any purchased assets on the asset store.
Now I'm always using an older version of Unity to download them but sometimes it isn't doing anything and says
"Please Wait" --- forever and no further processes will follow.
    or

I get this problem with Unity 4.6.1.
Yes, Unity is accepted in my Firewall settings so I don't know what to do with this messed up version of the store.

UnityDevs - Don't make it a mess please fix!

Seems weird that you cant sort search results by the categories (popularity etc)

I have had problems with it loading slowly since I started in 3.4 all the way up to now with 4.61.

No firewall here at all even the windows one is off.

This is what Unity support replied:

So I've checked the firewall = OK
and disabled Avast AntiVirus for some minutes (right klick ... disable for *** minutes).

After doing this the store loaded.
Still very slow but it loaded!

It's slow on a brand new $3k desktop with business grade high speed internet.

Sometimes it hangs, especially if I click on my purchased items before it's fully loaded, it'll just hang forever and I have to press reload.

Seems to load a little faster on mac than pc....

    It is very freakin annoying....

It's slow indeed, but it was always slow in the whole 4.x release at my pc. I have a 32gb Ram machine with 120mbit internet, and it really doesn't matter what kind of machine or internet you have. Maybe a little difference, but not much.

If I simply start the Unity 4.6.1p2 editor and leave it running after about 30 minutes doing nothing in the editor I can't even connect to the asset store in the editor and it's been that way since 4.4.x...even with blank projects.

There is a known issue with the version of WebKit that the Asset Store browser window uses which has caused slowness for some people on Windows. The workaround is the following:

    1) Open your 'Internet Options' control panel
    2) Go to the 'Connections' tab
    3) Click 'LAN Settings' near the bottom
    4) Turn off 'Automatically detect settings' at the top
    5) Press OK, OK again, then restart your computer.

Possible that the slowness you're seeing is for other reasons, but this could be worth a try, particularly if you're seeing the Asset Store window just sit blankly for tens of seconds at time.

Rats. Well, it was worth a try.

If you want to run further with it, we tracked that issue down last time by asking an affected user to run Very Sleepy and capture a sample while the Asset Store was freezing. You could try the same if you like.

Thanks, I'll try that & I'll try Wireshark but I expect the results easier from Very Sleepy though because I think it's a memory leak...I hope it lets me pick it can monitor Unity system calls alone like truss & those programs can...

    ....super program that is.

Very Sleepy is a CPU callstack-sampling profiler, so it won't give you any memory usage information directly, but if we see that the sample is spending a ton of time in 'findSomeFreeBlockOfMemory' then that might imply a memory leak, sure.

It's not you. I use Unity on two different, relatively powerful PCs and it's still a hit-and-miss proposition that can take between 3 and 30 seconds. If I leave it open the Editor sometimes runs noticeably more slowly, too.

For me it loads the main asset store page fast enough(slower than a brower still), it's when you go to your purchased files that it freezes for at least a minute, sometimes 3 minutes+.

I can open the asset store in the editor, search for a product, select it, much, much faster than it loads the my purchases section. Is it the file lookup taking forever?

I have a couple thousand purchases....but not all of them downloaded on the computer. So maybe the referencing of my purchases with the actual file location is the slow part?

Also if I go to my purchases and search before it's fully loaded all my purchases, it will hang forever and I have to reload it.

Believe it or not, but here it's close to 30 minutes per page, with several minutes of freeze even after closing down the window. That is, if I even manage to close it while it's unresponsive.

Spans through both 4.3.4, 4.6.0b and 4.6.1f1. With DX11, firewall and antivirus disabled

/Edit: Also if it's worth to note.. The javascript seems to be perfectly fine. From popups to progressbars.

Did you try the Proxy Settings fix I posted earlier in the thread already?

    Woops, missed it.

It's down to a few minutes now, from 30. Thanks!

Cool, a step in the right direction :)

"A few minutes" is still pretty extreme. I assume it only takes a few seconds for you to load https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com in a browser?

How come there isn't a way to download a package from the website directly?
