Indeed, the same problem. Is it releated to system specs?

It still doesn't work for me.

I also tried "the radical cure"
    Code (csharp):
    1. mkdir libs
    2. mv *.so* libs
    3. ln -s libs/libTextureConverter.so .
    4. ln -s libs/libumbraoptimizer64.so .
    5. ln -s libs/libGeometryToolbox.so .
    6. ln -s libs/libUnwrap.so .
I once saw a "you are offline" page in the asset store. So in principle the window works. But everything else is just completely white. Edit - Sign out and Edit - Sign In works this way, but not the asset store.

I want to subnote another problem here. It is light baking which fails to load the GI probe texture or something like that from ~/.cache/Unity...

Also for me, under Ubuntu 15.04 the asset store screen remains blank.

The asset store works in-editor, I can search it and receive details for all of the packages. However when I press "Import package" it will open the Buy package from Asset Store window but the progress bar remains at the beginning, and the following error pops up: "The server was unable to build the package. Please re-import." It has two options I can choose, either Ok or an unlabeled button.

I can open the asset store from the editor and import packages. But I did have to delete the libresolv that came bundled with the editor to pass the login screen. Can anyone who is experiencing this problem attempt to move the libresolv out of that folder and see if that helps

This happens to me, too, although I can see the window loading with a loading animation for a moment before it turns completely white. Removing the libresolv.so.2 in Unity/Editor/Data/Tools did not help. I am on Ubuntu 15.04, too.

@Nibodhika do you have libresolv on your system? What DE are you running? I'm running GNOME and I've had this problem since day 0 (of the closed beta).

Edit: And I had to delete libresolv to log in, but I remember builds where it worked fine.

Yes I have libresolv on my system and I deleted the bundled one (I wasn't able to login otherwise).

    Code (CSharp):
    1. /usr/lib/libresolv.so is owned by glibc 2.22-1
I'm running i3wm and using NetworkManager for, well, network management.

Also it's worth noticing that I have chromium, chrome, and vivaldi installed on this machine (since the unity editor uses chrome-sandbox). And it does take quite a while (about 30 secs) to load the asset store.

Yep, no change, tried waiting ~2 minutes and still a white window (except for decoration of course).

Gentoo distr. Asset Store - white screen.
    In editor log:

Somehow I didn't think to look into the log for the white asset store. Indeed, there is this error.

When opening the asset store and the loading thing is displayed
    Code (csharp):
    1. [0911/231307:ERROR:browser_main_loop.cc(207)] GLib-GObject: invalid cast from 'GtkDrawingArea' to 'GtkDialog'
    2. [0911/231307:ERROR:browser_main_loop.cc(207)] Gtk: IA__gtk_dialog_get_content_area: assertion 'GTK_IS_DIALOG (dialog)' failed
    is printed to the log.

When the page is turned completely white,
    Code (csharp):
    1.
    2. [CEF] processResult error: [object Object] in https://kharma.unity3d.com/js/minified-5.2.0-r84825.js at line 1031
    3. [CEF] [Global Exception] Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'GetString' of null [https://kharma.unity3d.com/js/minified-5.2.0-r84825.js:6925] notLogged in https://kharma.unity3d.com/js/minified-5.2.0-r84825.js at line 1678
    4. [CEF] Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'GetString' of null in https://kharma.unity3d.com/js/minified-5.2.0-r84825.js at line 6925
    is printed.

What nice code to debug this is.

https://kharma.unity3d.com/js/minified-5.2.0-r84825.js at line 1031 is alog statement that is executed when
    Code (csharp):
    1. if(a = this.m_requestCallbacks[c.messageID], a !== void 0 ? delete this.m_requestCallbacks[c.messageID] : a = this.m_eventCallbacks[c.messageID], c.status < 0) {
    is true

More interesting is the second error "Cannot read property 'GetString' of null in https://kharma.unity3d.com/js/minified-5.2.0-r84825.js at line 6925".

    Code (csharp):
    1.   var g = window.context.GetString && window.context.HasKey && window.context.DeleteKey && window.context.SetString;
    Apparently window.context is null...

tl;dr: Your javascript is faulty and I wonder how anyone can actually run it.

I tweaked the error handling a bit - could you try again please?

    The interesting bit is:
which should have a more interesting error message now.

Heh... Thanks for the insight! I'd like to think there are at least a few people out there who manage to run it now and then...

Is this the more interesting error message?

Yes! Thank you! Bug found and fixed.

It's a silly locale bug. You can most likely work around it by setting your locale to something that uses '.' and not ',' as decimal point. I expect the Linux cabal will be here to pump out a new build Within Soon [TM].

Thanks for looking at it and fixing it.

You would be surprised how many of the games released for linux had never been tested with a locale with the other decimal separator. Not even Counter Strike Global Offensive got it right: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Counter-Strike-Global-Offensive/issues/63

So I guess everyone has run into that problem at least once.

I actually have LC_NUMERIC set to en_US.UTF8 for exactly this reason, but in this case it isn't enough.
I tried with LC_ALL=C and the asset store works for me.

After seeing the confusing and convoluted german translations of gcc error messages, I'm really tempted to globally set my system locale to en_US.UTF8...

I just downloaded and installed the unity-editor-5.1.0f3+2015091501_amd64.deb package and have the same problem with it. Every free model I tried gives the same error. After the editor loads up, from the top there are assets like "free bandana" "Ninja@Run" "Sorceress-Hair" "French_House" "CrossedWrenches" ... etc. Seems to happen with every asset, and I'm not going to buy one to test if a paid model fails the same way.

That works for me excellent, just put this in the terminal:

    LANG="en_US.UTF-8" /opt/Unity/Editor/Unity

Maybe you need to change the path

    ------
If this dosen't work you may need to:

    1. sudo nano /etc/locale.gen
    2. delete "#" at the line: en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8
    3. sudo locate -a en_US.UTF-8

    -----

    Hopefully it works

    Hello mikabrytu,

i hope that's not yet necro-posting, this little script in my homedir solved the strore-problem (and others) on my pc:

    #!/bin/bash
    export LC_ALL=C
    cd /opt/Unity/Editor
    ./Unity &
    cd

You don't have to put unity in the background though, but so i can start it from a terminal or from a starter from the desktop. For me it was really just the locale thing ... Pls. replace the unity install directory if you have it somwhere else.

    Hope that helps.

Same problem for me on Linux Mint 17.1 MATE: when I try to open the Asset Store window (Windows -> Asset Store) I just get a grey empty panel. If I try to access the Asset Store from Google Chrome, I'm only offered to open the asset in Unity3D editor but... this does not work either (click "open in unity" -> nothing happens). There is NO way to download an asset from the store. (This is a fresh install. I did not try any fix yet).

I'm running linux mint 17.2 and the new beta Build #20161229 5.6.0b3 and this is happening. I'm just trying to import the space shooter example with the "OPen In Unity" button from the asset store in Firefox or Chorminum.

It opens Unity and then does nothing. Sometimes it gives an error about the chosen layout being bad in some way and then the button to default the layout can be clicked forever until Quit.

Still seeing this on 5.6. I've seen it now on 3 separate PCs, one a brand new laptop.
