The feedback form was kinda weak, so here's a thread for it.

    Cons
    • Incredibly slow
    • Listed content is much larger, takes more time to sift through
    • No publisher screen?
    • Header overlaps content
    • Invisible scrollbar (starts under the header)
    • "welcome to the asset store beta.." bar refuses to actually go away (cookie issues?)
    Pros
    • Clean, tidy layout
    • Quick Look
    • Main page / Feature page is pretty

The responsive design / scaling is just annoying to me. Might be good for mobile phones, but this does not fit a computer screen at all.

Maybe it takes some getting used to, but I'm not a fan.

It feels very slow and the categories are less clear. It takes more guesswork. It is a lot less intuitive to find what you're looking for.

What are "Add-Ons", what are "Tools" and what are "User Tools"? I wouldn't categorize every scripting package as a tool. There are a lot of sub categories that make sense, but they don't cover everything and there is no obvious "Other" category.

The different color scheme means key images that were made for the old asset store don't match.

How do I get to the beta? I'm not seeing a link to get there like others see.

    More feedback:

It's hard to see what is new. I used to just click on each category, and sort by most recent. When I do this in the beta, it's way harder, takes longer, and is missing the newest items.

There should be a notification bar at the very top of the page, saying "Try the new Asset Store beta or hide this message.".

Agreed, new store has a better UI, old store is way easier to navigate.

With the old store there is fun because you can sit down for half an hour and browse through interesting categories, sort by ratings, price, date, popularity very easily with just one click.

With the new store, it feels like there's no incentive to browse through more assets. You click on a category and what you see on the first page is it. It's not obvious how it was sorted or how to sort by something different. It's not obvious that there are other interesting assets on page two etc.

From what others are saying it sounds like there is a failure to get the best of both worlds with the new store. By this I mean I can see why the modern trend for a more visually pleasing store that draws great attention to highlighted content is important, but when it comes at the expense of wider asset discoverability this is bad.

I think this assessment is accurate. Discoverability is decent on the current store but is really poor on the new layout. Given the saturation and growth rate I think this is a big step backwards for the Asset Store in general. The layout is appealing to look at and generally looks fancier but I don't think that change is worth making discoverability suffer.

At least it's not the train wreck that was the New Forum where they just dumped it on us with no polling for feedback.

Too much white space, content all over my 30" monitor I get lost, and categories on the top not easy to select.

I think the new UI is very beautiful but for me so far, the UX is worse on the new version.

Few things i don't like, Cons:

    The Bad

Assets don't display few lists they belong (helped me search similar assets much more easily this should be really implemented in the new version)
You can't sort assets on publishers page
I can't tag my assets anymore
In general the navigation on the Old store was better

    Minor annoying things

You now have to click on release to see when was lastly updated, the date could be just by side with version

But anyway, congratulations the project so far looks really for a beta, i hope you implement what is being asked by the community

The new beta store is testament to most re-designs that fail to understand who their target audience is.

It's nice work and whoever designed and built it are good at what they do.

But it's not for me. Please don't make it the default.

I'm middle-aged and been on the internet since the 80s, like I imagine many here. As such, I prize the following:

    1. Scan vast amounts of data quickly
    2. Graphics lean and necessary
    3. Minimal wasted space

You can drive a truck through the gaps between each asset. The size of the asset pic is needlessly large. The compact design that makes the current asset store efficient is gone.

To conclude...most of us come here to work, not to window shop. The new design is mostly pretty and succeeds mainly at wasting my time. Peaceful protest.

After using the Asset store for over 2 years (almost daily), I've finally started using the beta version. Here's some of my feedback:

    I'll start with what's good:
    • Design looks modern and nice
    • "Package Content" modal is nice compared to having it clutter the asset page initially
    • It's responsive (Not that the old version was bad)
    • It's the Unity Asset Store! Best damn asset store I know. Best damn developers / publishers I know
    • "My Assets" loads way faster than before

Now the things I would like to see done differently (I'm using on PC browser at the moment):
    • The old version had a clear path to read from, there was a visible hierarchy. This design confuses my eyes even while I'm focused on reading something. My suggestion, get higher contrasting partitions similar to how the old store layed out content.
    • Notifications previously had a big red number at the top bar, I didn't notice this for an unread notification I had.
    • Clicking on the patch version in a notification didn't in fact take me to the asset's version changes.
    • Call to actions are misaligned with the users of the store. The "Buy" button shouldn't be the only major call to action, move the add to list button closer to the top or where the wishlist button is. Better yet, let wish lists save to a list so people can immediately choose a list they've wishlisted for (getting rid of 2 separate buttons).
    • The wide layout makes things a bit harder to read (I guess I can always zoom out on the browser, but I shouldn't have to).

    Minor Nitpicks:
    • I liked having the media and descriptions etc. available to read (as in the old version) without having to open a new modal .
    • It seems as though the update doesn't add any new functionality, and is just a re-skin. There are many features / functionality users and publishers have been asking for that seems to be ignored in lieu of a graphic redesign. Some examples of features requests are:
      • Publisher created sales which are searchable / easily found
      • Customizable Upgrade paths and crossgrade paths for assets
      • Deprecated asset page snapshot (the content on the asset page before it was deprecated) for users who purchased and own the asset still.
      • Asset demo (WebGL) on the asset page itself, no longer forcing publishers to host their demos wherever and however. Providing an option to load the demo from a hosted page can prove useful (maybe an iFrame).
    • I hope users can keep using the old version if preferred (I know I do).
    • Asset search (Old and Beta version) needs to have a per-user toggle for Lists. I turn them off every time I search and it's annoying.
Overall I'll keep using the old version until the new version is as user friendly or better than the old version. Though I do appreciate the work the Unity team is doing. Keep it up!

I have a few things to say why the new store is not useful to me.
My screen is 30 in. I like to see as many assets as possible at a glance, in this the new web design fails.
What is the point of making it pretty, when the productivity sucks.

The biggest non-starter for me is how the scroll bar is diplayed in Firefox. It's almost impossible to find, and then very hard to use because its so thin.

This brings me to the question as to why webdesign has to be dumbed down to the "smartphone" level. What I don't know is how many people actually buy assets on a smartphone.

To me refining the existing asset store design with a better search engine would make more sense. I don't think there is really much wrong with it otherwise.

Screen Shot 2017-11-22 at 17.40.58.png I can't see all my assets at once anymore because of pagination, have to click 9 time to see alll my assets, this reduces the usability. just load them all at once.

Or make it an option to show all items at once. somewhere in the preferences of the asset store.

Over the last few months the new beta Asset Store has improved a lot, and for the most part we would be using it regularly. However, there are two glaring dung-piles that keep making us use the old store -- they are "My Assets" and "Favorites". The issue is a simple one, there is no apparent way to filter and or sort either of these lists. If these listings could only be filtered and/or sorted by title, description, category, sub-category, purchase date, etc then they would actually become useful and there really would be no need to continue using the old store at all. Just a bit of cents ;)

@Lars-Steenhoff You are certainly not alone

    CONS-
*Mobile is completely screwed nearly all images are much bigger than the screen with no way to make them fit.
*Each asset takes up way too much space on the screen. I can literally only view "1" thats right one asset at a time on mobile..
    * selecting "characters" brings up random none character assets like scripting for vehicles.
*No good way to filter anything that ive been able to find.
*can not zoom in on text or asset images in mobile.(could on the old version)
*All tags are lost with my purchased assets. (Again no filtering ability)...
*again alot of screen is used with empty space..
*as of today im apparently forced to use this pile of dung now ,as all my links now force me to " the new steaming pile asset store" ....which means my asset purchases are put on hold.
*worst con of all ,most of my current complaints were made by people 6 months ago, And zero improvements from what i can tell have been made.

    POS-
*only one ive found so far is when i click on my purchases it actually comes up quickly (i have many hundreds) , old asset store would take upwards of a minute to load...

    Suggestions:
    • Reduce paddings and margins between asset items. It is too much wasted space now.
    • Slightly smaller font size for all classes.
    • Slight margin between </p> and <p> for asset/publisher description so it doesn’t look like a <br>.
    • Layout for mobile specifically. I am using iPhone8. Everything is way too large and unusable on mobile browser. The filtering/sorting buttons are even invisible regardless of landscape or portrait views.
I admire Unity developers for having extremely large monitors so the text and icons always feel not big enough. And we small indie devs can only stick with low resolution with your oversized layout.

Anyone else unable to use the old store, getting redirected when either using the old asset store link or "shop on old store" button in the new one? I had to enable cloudfront.net trackers just to use the button. Doing so redirects me to the old which redirects instantly to the new store... Allowing all trackers on both old and new site still redirects to new. D:?

    Cons
Forcing analytics on users to use the site: navigation, buttons, purchasing, etc...

    • Smaller asset sellers harder to find.
    • Personal assets is a mess to go through, no filters.
    • Cannot access the old store, Asset store sellers are loosing money because of the forceful redirect to the new store, which I'm sure a lot of unspoken users are turned off by all the issues.
    • Taking more time to review assets by:
    1. hidden info in tabs, package contents, revision history ... I used to be able to glance this
    2. Content stretch to screen, should be centered and concise with less white space, optimal viewing perspective, again content at a glance.
    3. Obfuscating search options, categories are worse, the old hierarchy made sense and was clear and concise again at a glance.
    4. Obfuscating how the old search worked, new users have no idea that they could use characters to do special search functions.
    • Slower to load pages, having to refresh the entire page when selecting reviews
    • Their whole approach, they are forcing the beta which is more like an alpha just so that they can have better analytics when all they needed to do was use some css and their html architect to achieve a different look. They want the analytics because its about cost, they need it to define payout pressure points of what individuals would pay for assets. Fluctuating price points on an individual level, region, culture, get ready.
I haven't used all features so I'm sure this list will grow, internally.

    Pros
    • Unity gets less money for being tyrants
    • Aesthetics? At this point with these problems doesn't help. Its superficial and not functional.

I'm boycotting the new store till the design flaws are fixed, or until I can access the old store.

its the same as before when they wanted to “improve” the forum.

again they are not listening to the users only pushing some new stuff witch is actually worse from a usabilty standpoint.

Cons for me is the "most popular" list showing when typing in the search bar.

All non-popular packages are relayed to a complete search, this is kind of a killer for new coming users.
My packs are not in the most popular section, and I havent sold any packages since the beta is on (I had +/-10 sales per month for 4 years)

Here is a missing feature I found: I can't remove items from a list if they are no longer available in the store:
    upload_2018-2-16_10-37-33.png

I also didn't find a possibility to sort the items. In the old store the ProBuilder Basic Item just won't show up at all.

Other than that, I encountered some UX problems on firefox.
When clicking on a suggested item, I can only navigate through the quick view to the other page, not by clicking the image itself. Might be connected to the errors I get in the console:
    upload_2018-2-16_10-44-16.png
Using privacy badger and UBlock Origin.

On the bright side: I really like the new search, it works way better for me! The design looks great as well. Quite modern and fitting to the rest of unitys CI. :)

The new assetstore is unusable for me. I used to shop around alot and enjoyed browsing for assets. With the new UI this simply feels unintuitive and actually unbearable. Here are just a few points that are important for me (not listed by priority, just how they pop up in my mind):

    1. Taxes
I am a German Unity user and the old store used to show the prices including mandatory taxes. Now I see an asset price and have to calculate how much it is actually going to cost. Takes alot out of the fun browsing quickly if I want to spend a certain amount.

    2.Paying
Even worse, I can't proceed to checkout in Google Chrome. Yes, I can't finish the payment process in the new store so I am unable to buy something.

    3. Sale indicators
The sale indicators are weak. The old assetstore knew how to make an asset on sale stick out, now I can barely see it. The worst part about the sale indicators is that I get the Pro/Plus prices shown and I don't have a subscription. This will make me actually stop from using the assetstore as I think this is a highly offensive and doubtful marketing strategy. I can understand that you have a section where I can see the prices, but I dont want to be constantly reminded about how I could save some money - Pro/Plus is simply no option for me, I don't want to see these confusing price tags which make me think "Oh thats a great price" for a second until I get bummed out that is again just for users with a subscription. That makes me feel like an inferior client of yours and takes away all the fun about shopping the store.

    4. My Purchases
I have a really big purchase list and it is simply unbearable in its current state - It is not sorted by name or categories, each assets list entry is waaay to big so I can't find or browse assets comfortably without using the search bar which again takes a very long time to load. This is such a huge step backwards.

After the store was redesigned I have purchased alot less than before. It is a huge bummer that the redesign feels and navigates worse than before, the cleaner look is fine but it is in no way easier to find stuff before. The intrusive marketing strategies are annoying and rude towards regular customers who dont want pro/plus for a reason. The price indications are way worse than before and there are some technical issues that make the store unusable for me.

I am really disappointed in the new store and I will definetly spend less time and money than before.

    EDIT:

I just saw that the new assetstore does NOT indicate if an asset was gifted to the reviewer by the publisher. This is a blow to the face as this was very regulary seen in the old store and made me cautios about a purchase based on reviews. So as soon as the option "shop on old store" isn't availabe anymore I will not buy assets to test them based on reviews. This opens gates for fake reviews which were pretty common already before.

It seems like the only thing Unity cares about is to push new sponsored assets on a bigger space , guilt-force people into getting a subscription ("Look here you could pay 20% less if you had a subscription, too bad for you") , make fake reviews possible so more people are lured into buying assets by sketchy developers who can't earn reviews based on asset quality.

I will keep away from this store awhile as those business practices leave a foul stench on everything the assetstore used to be for me.

Im with @Drown & @giraffe1 new store still has many issues and i see this bad mind set going into even unity downloads and licensing now.. Do you make x amount ? Are you sure..? You have used unity for x years but we dont care at all...youll still be treated like a first time user every update.. If we even grant you a licence...
Oh and i got an email recently that said i was top 5% asset store purchaser.. I started to read and thought oh thats cool that they recognize i spent a fair amount of money with them every year even if i had a personal licence. I though maybe theyll give me a extra 20% off my next purchase or something to say thx...Finished with email us or call for more details..(emailed..) Only to find out it was a sales gimic to get me to purchase a pro licence... Really $!#?

Unitys new asset store (likely same developers as their horrible forum fiasco) is slowly but surely being forced on us as all links now take us to it even ones on the old store.. Ill likely quit buying assets or only in rare circumstance once im forced to use it. At least 1 of im sure many top 5% purchasers gone..

The new interface seems like a major downgrade. It's slow, not very intuitive. To watch a video of an asset you have to take an extra step and watch it in a semi-new window rather than it being directly on the page as previously. The old store was limited in a few areas (searches for example) but was so neat, clean and simple.
