    Hi,
There are few developers here and we've been have issues with working on the same game. We've tried SVN and its too damn slow and always causes some issues. So we've been using the "human" svn lol which is not efficient.

Anyone using asset server with multiple developers? how fast is it and does it speed up efficiency? Would you recommend it?

It definitely speeds up efficiency, as the cached imported models and alike are transfered and shared with the AS too (so your artist can even check in max models if he has 3DS max installed and all works fine for you without having 3DS Max present)
Just keep in mind that you need to have a vdedicated / dedicated machine to run the asset server there (better dedicated or fast enough vdedicated)

But slow is a matter of definition. If the SVN host you rent your space at is fast enough or if you do it through gigabit LAN locally it is limited primarily by your harddisk speed and the network bandwidth. SVN otherwise isn't "slow" in any form.
what easily can take ages is opening the project again if assets changed / were added :)

I'm pretty sure Unity Technologies used to offer a trial license, you might want to drop them a mail, given the Pro trial does not include asset server client support.
