So I am in instance where I may be needing to argue that use of Unity on mobile is far more relevant than Unreal Engine 4 currently.

Me being knowledgable about this am already very familiar. UE4 mobile is capable, it works, but it certainly isn't as mature as Unity, it hasn't had as much mobile optimization put into it and it doesn't have as many features, graphical or other, done specifically for mobile. I haven't tried UE4 mobile but from I've read it's essentially beta and has issues still.

Is that all true. Are there any articles or anything to state that with certainty to people who are not very familiar with the state of both engines?

Go to their forums and ask. You'll get a much clearer picture of the state of their mobile there.

In my opinion, it's changing rapidly, but it's not something we'll consider for mobile at all at this point.

There have been hundreds of thousands of games, shipped to mobile, using Unity; its proven its worth in that market.

Oh, and here are some stats and numbers. :)

No we don't. I am really not looking for argument. I am highly knowledgable about both UE4 and Unity, what is the strength of each. This thread is not about my indiscernment. Rather, I am hoping that perhaps someone knows of pre-existing websites, articles, benchmarks that could be useful in helping to argue Unity's validity on mobile over UE4 in it's current state. Or someone has recorded something more tangible themselves or has any more in-depth technical knowledge and awareness of it that they could share.

    Here's one developer's perspective.

At this pointy you really can't expect much as far as benchmarks, comparisons, etc. Unreal Engine has only been available to the general public for less than a year.

The best idea really is to head to the Unreal forums and ask the many Unity users (past and present) there about their experiences with both engines for mobile development.

He's asking for mobile, not desktop. Also, that's a pretty old article, the current Unity 5 beta can easily match the UE4 screenshots there.

I'm suggesting going to their forums because even there there are a lot of complaints about android performance, compatibility, and limitations on the number of dynamic lights across the board.

Is the OP asking about Unity 5 Beta? Also the article briefly mentions iOS, and was only an example of how there's very little public and in-depth information as far as comparisons.

An engine that's only been available to the general public for several months just won't have much as far as benchmarks and comparisons, regardless of platform.

The Unity forums really shouldn't turn into Unreal Engine mobile support, especially when there are more developers on the Unreal Forums who are concurrent or former Unity users.

Ok maybe I should go there. That is really what I'm looking for, what exactly 'beta mobile' support really means in UE4 terms.

I sometimes wonder why do they even bother writing blog posts.

Yeah. Current results here internally (beta 16) are visually as good as UE4 so we're not worried. Also locked.
