Bug ARFoundation 5.0.0 - Silicon Release of Unity Crashes New Simulator

    I was following the steps (in the video link below) to use the new AR simulator in AR Foundation 5.0.0, but the editor would always crash after starting up the Simulated Environment Scene and clicking the Scene tab.



    I wanted to share a temporary workaround in case anyone else runs into this issue.

    It appears to be related to the "Silicon" release of Unity since the "Intel" release of 2021.3.8f1 is working, but Unity always crashes with the "Silicon" release of 2021.3.8f1. The laptop tested with is an M1 MacBook.

    Fix for this is pending release. For now the available workarounds are to use Unity 2022.2 beta or the Intel build as you note.
