Area fill light without lightmapping that doesn't reflect on PBR mats strongly?

Sometimes I want to "fill" out the light in an area to make the shadows less distinct and get light in the corners. Typically I was doing this with a large range low intensity point light. An issue I've noticed with somewhat metallic/reflective pbr materials is they reflect this light pretty strongly in a way I don't really want. I don't want this light to be as much an identifiable light source but as a way to brighten a room.

I can't rely on using area lights since procedural rooms can't use lightmapping and since it is just a single room I don't want use a directional light or adjust the ambient light settings. Any other suggestions?

I've had the same problem many times. Unfortunately I don't really have a solution for you. The best advice I can offer is to try and design around it, avoid shiny materials when using these kinds of lights etc.
