Are .xap files still in use for wp8.1?

    I am trying some builds with windows store/phone 8.1 selected.

    I am deploying on my phone but no .xap file is being generated in the bin folder as it used to be for wp8.

    Is this a bug or is there another way to publish for windows phones now?

    From top menu in Visual Studio select Project->Store and there you have options for making packages.
