Are atlased sprites broken in linear color space for b21?

After I upgraded to b21 all my UI looked bright and horrible. I tested it on a fresh new project. I added a sprite (it has to be a sprite that isn't already white like the default ones), and gave it a packing tag. Dropped it in a canvas and turned the player setting to linear color space. Notice how different the editor looks from the player when I do that:

This doesn't happen in gamma. Did anyone else notice this? I'm scared to submit a bug because I always feel like I must be doing something wrong.

Well that option isn't even available for the sprite import settings. It only seems available when you use advanced. And it seems the UI image component wants a texture type of "Sprite (2D and UI). In any case it definitely wasn't doing this in b20 and I hadn't touched my import settings.
