Arcore depth API

Stunning... Will it be integreted in Unity soon ?

 

I know that Unity are already involved in the early collaborators call for the new depth API and that some of the demos were made in Unity. I expect that we will get our hands on it as soon as ARCore itself makes a new release because then a unity sdk can be made for it as well as an update to ar foundation. So in short, we gotta wait.

 

Looks like this is not available yet in unity arcore? (googling seems to say its in their SceneView only)

Can't wait to play with it. AR will only really start to be practical when the app has depth information

Yeah apparently theyre doing a very quiet launch with only select few devices being able to run it ... Not sure why they are so careful with it.

So - can we get an official word from Unity about timescales?

AR might just be about interesting enough to bother looking at soon. ;-)

I've been a cynical hold out. Still am to some degree (no decent head-mounted devices on the horizon - except maybe Apple) but the recent demo of streaming light field video and a widely available depth API is starting to turn my head.

Unity - is support for this weeks or months away?
