Spam became better. Now they create several threads per user instead of thread per user!

Unity needs to find a better way to block them...

    Yeah tell me about it.

They need to use the invisible Google Re-Catch or whatever it's called.
I used to get spam like crazy on my website, now not a single one.

You'd think spammers would improve in areas other than getting their spam onto a site. Apparently not enough improvement to realize few on that site speaks Arabic.

According to Google Translator that guy is talking about fixing refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers and ice makers.

And they continuously spam the word "Hitachi".

I already reported him, but still no action from mods.

Gotta love stupid spammers. Why do they keep coming back with crap that noone can read anyways? Doesn't that defeat the point?

How about any one who creates more than 5 threads in 10 minutes, get a temporary block put on them and their threads hidden.

No point honestly, but if spammer creates 10 threads per minute, the whole front page is full of them which is kinda annoying.

So are these spammers actual human beings or just bots? I would think if its an automatic bot thing there would be a way to kinda flag that kind of activity.

Most likely they're bots. Unity must add CAPTCHA to their posts in order to prevent that kind of stuff.

I'm betting a bit of both. Someone to pass the CAPTCHA and the bot does the rest.

Well the problem is unity's forum change has changed the moderation notifications being visible. I used to handle most of it when I saw it, now I can't see it so I don't.

I'll keep an eye out but unity has to regress this change :)

You're not getting more spam, I'm just moderating less :p I presume eric is suffering the same problem (we work at different times mostly it seems).

Yeah, although I did ban one of those bots/spammers yesterday. The arabic spam pretty much disappeared since the switch to the new forum, until now. It's possible the forum uses some kind of adaptive spam detection, where hitting the spam button repeatedly will eventually cause it to auto-moderate that stuff. There's been a lot of snake-oil body-building/health care spam, most of which gets auto-moderated.

They do need to un-hide the moderation queue and report list.

Lol, thats fair enough for you... you think ? -.-
You cant judge a whole culture/country etc from just a few stupid trollers's behaviour, they just think spamming will increase their ranking and stuff like that, but asking to do not buy arabian assets its just racist !
Go see what good arabian are doing (not only in game industry) and you will change your mind ;)

Where exactly would we go to look? I don't know about anyone else, but I almost never specifically search for results from a particular nationality. If someone is doing something good then that should speak for itself.

    Well...they don't spam for sure.

BTW we are 1 step to be off topic so I wouldn't recommend to go any further.

I can't recall any other case but this when spam was in Arabic (correct me if I am wrong).
Most spam bots I've reported were in English so yeah...

Well most spammers had enough sense to realize that the majority of their audience on this site spoke English. Either as their native tongue or as secondary/tertiary.

You get the most efficient fridge if you make it yourself in C and OpenGL.

I would, but FridgeOS has a remarkable CIL. I heard it's getting even better in the 5.x cycle!
