In my game #WarfrontDefenders I was thinking of including economy. Points will be earned mainly by killing your enemy. It can be spent on inventory. But I'm despising the idea of naming it ' coins' or 'kills'. Looking for something appropriate for military or ww2.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for the suggestions.

But these sound better as achievements on winning. What about the granular points on each kill.

This may sound odd but how about "Helmets". Like you get a "helmet" for each kill.

    Or "heads" :p

Only if you can get Brad Pit to VO the merchant though. It just wouldn't be right otherwise.

The alternative is to just use an icon and stick with it. You won't need to figure out what it's called since it's just going to be the icon.

    Patriotism points
    Freedom points
Something else also probably implemented by the USA military
Dog Tags (taken from enemies, like scalps, but less violent)

Your players can also have their economy be based on scavenging valuables from the people they kill / vehicles they destroy. In war, scrap metal and fuel is extremely valuable.

Need for scrap metal > level playing field in which people are already killing each other. If humanity can't agree on peace, it can at least not pretend there's any morality in having rules. Kill all the civilians and nuke the planet to oblivion or go home!

They should take those dog tags, put them all into a giant iron funnel and melt them into a POW cell and make solid metal soldiers! (like you do with aluminum & ant hills :D)

War is for species that don't deserve to exist. Snicker.

in some ancient cultures, the archer was held as a low class person... he was a coward to kill from a distance, but it was a necessary component in a military organization
leaders would sometimes parley and duel .. because honor was more important than living,
really, people are getting more barbarian

as written in "the art of war" - morality is #1 most important factor of warfare

The points come from kills but go toward inventory purchases, so ... inventory points ...? Supply points ...?

Rank points sounded good. But the points are spent for inventory not for level up/ rank up. But I can imagine increase of 'inventory/supply' points when you kill an enemy would sound weird.

Although if you lose the round your points will get forfieted, but while playing it instant feedback on making a kill is an abosolute must.

Does anybody know how soldiers are/were rewarded for enemy kills?

I don't know that getting supply points for killls is all that weird. Players expect some form of abstraction in games, and getting points is more convenient than scraping up bundles of loot dropped by a kill.

What sort of inventory does your player buy? If your player is primarily recovering / buying guns and ammo, you could say they are collecting munitions points.

They will be buying barricades, mines, medpacks, ammo etc. Not guns.

Well ... it's not like they're looting the kills, then. Unless some of the guys are carrying barricades. ;)

No they are not looting. The kill points will get converted to economy. I guess I will settle for 'rank point' without going too overboard. Seems like everybody is out of ideas too.

Supply points was probably the best suggestion other than a generic "Funds" term.

I would be way too likely to swap that out for condemnations and seeing if people notice. Probably not where OP wants the tone to go though.

Cute idea, though. "Hey soldier! You've really pissed off the enemy! You can now buy an M16A1."

Battlefield Heroes used "valor points", which I think is pretty good name for what you're trying to do.

I like "valor points" (and "notches" of course). What about using a word that's relevant to something in the story, or related to the "character" that you play?

I like "valor points" as a term for the award, but then the idea is you buy supplies with valor points? That seems a bit off.

Maybe "rep" (or "reputation") or "renown" or "prestige". Maybe a soldier who's racked up enough kills has the prestige to waltz into a depot and ask for whatever supplies he needs.
