So it's 2018 and the cellular watch 3 is out.......any unity updates on inbuilt support? TYVM!

 

Watch 4 is out now and still no in built unity support. Come on Unity, I hate using native plugins.

 

In the blog post about the small Unity runtime, "wearables" was mentioned, so I believe that Apple Watch support will be coming soon as they start to iron that out. I'm looking forward to it.

 

Any news on this? Does anyone know if WatchOS be supported by Unity?

 

With watchOS apps now running without a companion phone app, surely someone has figured out an elegant solution?

 

I can't believe people were actually wanting to run 3D apps on a low power device.

BTW Metal API is not even available for watchOS. So there's that.

So it seems that since watchOS 3.0 SceneKit and SpriteKit became available. But custom Metal shader is not supported.

Still, without full Metal API, Unity on watchOS is just not going to happen.

 

I would like to have at least some built-in solutions, templates and tutorials about companion apps. The last tutorial is from 2017 and there is no official one

Looks like it doesn't exist anymore. Searching in the Asset Store itself yields nothing.
