That is what I am saying. Then claiming otherwise (whatever your excuse) will immediately make you look shady.

I agree it isn't the most important factor and only really becomes an issue when you claim otherwise. For a small unknown proven work history is super important. If you can say I released xyz it makes people trust more.

Okay anyways onto more important issues. What do you think of the updated pictures I posted in the title post? Currently writing some camera scripts to show off more gameplay.

Hm, I am confused by that room with the white grid lines. I'd rather a space skybox there.

The skybox still didn't bring out the scene as much as I would've liked. But that is one of the reasons for the kickstart right.

When I last checked your kickstarter page just the other day it still didn't have very much text. I'd try to dress it up some more. You know, I like the look of your UI widgets. That seems like a very good strong point

You sure you don't have an artist friend? I have an art buddy helping me with my project. He's been providing me with UI art (Icons and other odd bits). In exchange, I've been helping him with some code for his Unity game. Maybe you can do the same?

So, to be blunt and wrap up this post- I think the skybox could have more colors. Do we know how EVE Online made their skyboxes? They look sooooo good. (maybe they are using a bunch of post vfx though I dunno)

I do but she works full time at a restaurant post college and she has very little time.

I grabbed the Space Unity asset on the asset store I've been experimenting with it. I like their stuff but it isn't quite right so I've been tweaking and scripting some of their stuff to fit my expectations. I love Eve's skyboxes and Space Unity has a skybox asset kit for $20. I may grab it. A sky Sphere would be so much better haha.

This is really awesome and sounds very unique. You need to get this across on your page. I dunno, make some bullet points. Get some concept art showing us the scale of a ship compared to a planet. Something like that!

I would modify this sentence. Maybe I am having reading comprehension issues but this statement isn't clear too me.

I need the artists for the scale though I can just scale up the lousy 3D models I have now to show you.

Essentially what I was saying is that alone you are weak, together with good teamwork you can take on ships much larger than you. Some of those ships have the ability to destroy a star.

Ah now we're getting somewhere. Okay, I once made a prototype of space and I quickly discovered I had to stick with the cube maps. Because making a texture that doesn't warp at the poles is rough. It can be done but it takes a lot of effort.

I think EVE Online is using cube maps but I dont know for sure. Wish I knew someone that worked at CCP I'd just ask them directly. Maybe there is a blog somewhere?

Eventually I want to prototype a space game myself. But my plan was to just recruit an artist and have them make me some cube maps. Out of curiosity I'll look at that space asset you refer to when I get time. I seem to recall some really cool assets. Like a Procedural Planet generator, etc

I wrote my own procedural star generator / system generator / planet generator code. Modifications were made to incorporate new effects and materials but none the less systems can be extremely populated with planets or barren.

Really like this thread full of feedback - planning on starting a Kickstarter soon, and seeing the feedback and his project from the outside gives me some food for thought.

As for my input - I'd like to echo some of the thoughts here, you should spruce up the Kickstarter page with some images, even if it's just simple banner images for some of the section headings.

It'll make a huge difference in overall perception of your project.

As well, in regards to your skybox/backdrop, I would highly recommend checking out SPACE for Unity in the Asset Store. It's an incredible asset for space scenes!

Already have it, mentioned that a few posts back. They have okay skyboxes, mostly the same boxes with different hues of color. Nothing like nebula's or anything but I can figure something out.

I've been going over a bunch of kickstarter pages, I agree. I'm definitely going to do that. I didn't even realize I could.

Now We're getting somewhere. Though I've been doing a lot of optimizing of particles, so much is going on Unity is having a hard time handling it. I'm not too worried though, I'm testing at the very edge of what gameplay would look like. 100 Ships assaulting you with 3+ cannons each. Gameplay will be smooth up to that point on most systems. I'm just trying to smooth out the stuttering once it hits that point.

I've implemented some frame rate based returns to non-essential updates if the game is lagging too hard to work them.

So before I push this project to live, what do you guys think of it now? I followed a lot of your guys suggestions, spent more time and money over the last month making upgrades you suggested.

Your ideas did not go unheard and most were helpful.

So I'd like to thank the thread and hope you guys have any more insight or a go ahead.

P.S. There is a demo on the website but it's getting one final update for the KS that includes new links on the menu, some new textures for the UI and a Mac version if it works.
