    Hi all!

I am an absolute beginner so please forgive the very simple level of my knowledge.

I followed a simple tutorial on YouTube showing how to create and build some basic AR for a phone App.
I successfully built a test Android App which uses a Vuforia trigger to show a simple 3D object which I had textured with some basic PNG images. It worked great - first time!

Then I created more parts to my model and textured them, built the App again but this one will not install. I just keep getting the message "App not installed." Very frustrating as I have not added much to the model or changed the build process in any way as far as I can tell.

I found some articles that spoke of the same error message under similar conditions which offered suggestions such as:
    - create a keystore (which I never did the first time when it worked ok)
    - change manifest location (not sure how or if it's relevant)
    - change package version number (tried - no change)
    - ensure properly formatted package name (worked fine the first time so haven't changed)
    - set Play settings > Install location to automatic (seems to be a legacy setting that I can't find).

But nothing seems to help or be relevant.

    I'm building for Android 6.
I uninstalled the fist version of the App before I tried to install the new versions.
Cannot think of any other relevant info ...happy to provide any further info.

Does anyone have any insight or other suggestions please?

    Many thanks!

    Hi Paul,

Did you ever work out a solution to this? I make some small modifications to an app remade the APK uninstalled the old version, installed the new and getting the apk not installed error.

I have tried everything you had tried and still it won't work but it will work on my partners phone.

I am stuck with how to get this to work,

    Thanks

I just had the same issue. You probably figured it out yourself by now but in case someone else finds this.
    Restarting the phone fixed it.

Unity 2018.3.0f2 - Build completed with a result of 'Succeeded' (for Android)
    >> APP NOT INSTALLED error on device
I tried to restart computer and phone, but NOT fixed it.
I tried "Install Location" Automatic and Prefer External but NOT fixed it.
I do not understand what's the problem ! any ideas?

    Tried almost everything here.

1.) Uninstall the app, remove it in the settings, disconnect and shut down (do not restart) the phone.

    2.) Advance the version number.

3.) Delete the APK's on the phone (do not over-write).

4.) Side-load the new APK to the downloads folder of internal storage: not removable storage.

If a file is corrupt, it may be possible overwriting the file causes continued pain? It's also possible an operating system is having difficulty writing the SD card for whatever reason. I doubt the version number matters here, but I included it regardless.

I have the same problem. Is it possible, that it has something to do with final file size? When i reduced the size, bei inserting smaller videos it worked again.
