Any reason I would choose Unity over Unreal?

I don't give a damn if you take my opinions seriously. It's a public forum where I say whatever I want for no reason at all. Consider it smalltalk. ;)

Based on what I know I consider Unreal to be such crap that its not worth a free download and two weeks of evaluation time.

This is the dumbest thing I've read in this thread.

A professional game developer never has to even touch Unreal. To pretend like they must to keep up to date is total nonsense & reveals an extreme lack of professional knowledge of gamedev.

What the hell are you talking about?

The only post after his even close to this is Ryiah's awful post just attacking him.

Where is there any argument against his post besides Ryiah's baseless attack?

Also, "People" implies more than one. You should have just said "Ryiah pointed out", so I could gave written this off as nonsense without having to scroll up.

It's not simply an opinion. I've known people who have failed to keep their knowledge current and lost their jobs to people who were more knowledgeable as a result. It isn't like it takes a great deal of effort either. An hour or two every week is more than enough in my experience since learning new languages or engines only becomes easier with each you know.

Just to defend Ryiah, although I once PM'ed her asking to see any games she may have created, there wasn't much on offer apart from what seemed to be the start of a text based adventure game. However, that's not to disregard what she says.

Most of it, is highly factual and written in a well mannered way. Demonstrating a skill of programming if not game development per se. It would be wrong to simply discount her opinion and pass her off as trolling IMO.

This. I've mentioned numerous times in the past that I'm only a hobbyist. I develop games for my own enjoyment and very little makes it to a state that could be considered commercial ready (some might be early access ready though).

Oh, don't get me wrong, hehe, this thread is not why. I added Ryiah to my ignore list months/year ago when I realized the subtle trolling is consistent. I can only handle enough newbie abuse & blabbering by people with little experience sharing bad opinions.

I'm sure Ryiah is far from the worst of the internet. Not really a troll as much as a community bad apple who subtly trolls. Worthy of the ignore list though, especially when so consistently rotten to newbie.
