Any ideas on how this type of fire vfx was created ? (Boss from DS3)

    Hello !

I was looking for some inspiration to create vfx, and I watched some effects from DS3. These are really impressive and well done, and I was wondering how you could imitate them ? (I'm talking about the smoke trail + burst on every swing specifically, on the ugly gif below. Ds3 boss featured).

Do you think they computed the path dynamically or it's some prefabs effects ?

Every animation has a mesh and some texture + shader + clever UV used to render the effect ?

If it's dynamic, what about the limited number of "Update" during the animation and the fact that you can't register a lot of position on the sword ? Compute a spline dynamically to get a smoother path ?

A lot of questions for a really cool effect that I would love to be able to recreate (well, minus my lvl 0 in drawing textures).

Look for "ds3 abyss watcher" on youtube for a way better quality than this ugly gif :D

Thx for sharing your ideas !
