So i've been planing on releasing an open beta for my game so people can get a thought of how it will turn out later but I dont want the beta to work forever, I want it to work when I upload a new downloadable version from my website and they can play untill I update it. ( Might sound confusing, let me explain it better)

I was planing on doing an Update which checks the version online, either from a server or on the website. If it is the same version they downloaded from the website, the game is playable, if however it is not matching the game will exit.

Is this possible to do and how could I do it?
