Annoying thing since updating to Unity 2017.2 - Please tell me this is not 'desired behaviour'

Hi guys, I just updated to 2017.2 and immediately I noticed it was a little quicker and less laggy in places so I was quite pleased. I read there are enhancements to physics and other parts of the game engine so Im also happy about that (I must admit I havent read in detail what those changes are yet...)

However, I notice a really annoying thing.... Lets say I want to change the position values inside the inspector (or the texture tiling x y , or anything in the inspector basically), well I used to mouse over to the X value which would auto-highlight and then I change it, press TAB and it would auto-highlight the next value along to the right. I was previously able to TAB through the entire Inspector like this and I remember thinking "Wow Unity is really nice that way :)"

Well now in 2017.2, TAB will move the blue box over to the next value, but you have to manually click the number values in each box to get the cursor to allow you to change it.

Even within 10 mins of working in the new version, this has proved quite an inconvenience to say the least.
Not sure yet, but I might even revert back because of this

It's an annoying change. Would prefer an option to revert it.

Reverting because of it is a little hyperbolic.

id rather not revert. but literally every time I try to change some values in the inspector I get the urge to. Maybe .3 beta is the answer, I'm trying it now. Surely this cannot be intended? What is it just in case people accidentally edit some fields they didnt mean to by somehow tabbing and entering numbers in without noticing?

This was fixed in a subsequent patch. I suggest updating to 2017.2 p4 to get the aggregate of fixes since 2017.2's release.

Ahh brilliant. But I clicked on the latest version just before I downloaded it. I was given 2017.2.0f3, I'll search up and get p4 instead thanks

Yeah the "latest version" link is only to the official public release. You have to go get patches from here
    https://unity3d.com/unity/qa/patch-releases

which is linked to from this page which has final, patches, and beta links
