My animator gave me some human animations that I imported into unity and can see run fine in the inspector window. The rig comes in as generic and I convert them to humanoid which seems to work. They still play fine in the inspector window but once I apply them to my UMA animator things get crazy. One leg bends backward and the arms don't move at all. Is this because the bone structure doesn't match up with the UMA one? If I try to use an UMA avatar definition when converting to a humanoid rig it tells me the transform hierarchy doesn't match and the hips bone isn't found. I can only get it to work using the avatar that came with the animation but then it doesn't work on the UMA. Any thoughts on this?

If I were you I would test two things. One - using another animation on the UMA object, maybe a free one from the asset store. And Two - try your imported animation on another none-UMA model. This way you can figure out what is the culprit and then debug from there.
