Animation states broken after upgrade to HDRP (2020.1.5f1)

    Hi -
    I started this project in 2019-1.15.f1 (or something very close to that) and recently updated it to 2020.1.5f1. I also upgraded to HDRP and the new Input System. Along the way my animation states got "broken".

    My animation trees are still there and the transitions look ok. But the states themselves just show a blank inspector. I can add new states that work properly but I can't see or edit the properties of my preexisting states.

    The transitions actually play in-game (I can tell by the timing of movements) but the animations themselves do not for the broken states. Animations play properly for any new states I create.

    How can I recover from this without having to start over?
