    Hi,
I am a CG Animator, primarily working in Maya, I have created a 3d game character, rigged him and have animated a series of cycles, walk, run, idle and sneak, I have animated all the cycles in one maya file and all of them are on the spot. I have exported them as an .fbx and they do work in Unity (i can preview them)

following an online tutorial I have added the animations to the character in Unity and when i 'play' test the game the idle animation runs as expected, but when I press the arrow keys to move the player the correct anims play but he remains on the spot (his point of origin)

are there any guide lines for how the animation should be created ? ... should the character be moved off the origin (in maya) ? and should he be moved off his own 'world' control ?
