Animating Sprite field not in SpriteRenderer

    Just found out that you can't animate a field of Sprite type anywhere else than SpriteRenderer. It doesn't matters if I use Mecanim or legacy animation - the field with Sprite type just not shows up in the animation editor:


    Is there any good reason why it is so? Is it "by design" or just not implemented, or is it a bug?
