    Hello,

I have been trying to get my app to build but have been unsuccesful. I am getting the following error:
    Code (csharp):
    1. Checking the license for package Android SDK Build-Tools 30.0.3 in C:\Program Files\Unity\Hub\Editor\2023.1.0a20\Editor\Data\PlaybackEngines\AndroidPlayer\SDK\licenses License for package Android SDK Build-Tools 30.0.3 accepted. Preparing "Install Android SDK Build-Tools 30.0.3 (revision: 30.0.3)". Warning: Failed to read or create install properties file.
It appears that unity is unable to build with Gradle because of this issue... Would anyone be able to tell me why this is happening? I have encountered a similar issue with Android Studio which was resolved by running it in admin mode. no luck applying the same idea to this though.

I have retargetted my SDK installation from Android Studio to the Unity version of the SDK folder with no luck either...

Thank you in advance for any insights...

Smells like maybe you didn't accept the Android SDK license stuff? Google for how to do that.

I actuall tried that by installing the licensing package and that accepted the terms.

The weird part is, I fixed it on my home pc, but cannot get it working in the office...
So for now I can build on my home pc... But I do need to get it fixed eventually

Hm, I just noticed it was the tools... check out the highlighted paragraph below about tools in this blurb:

(Most of this doesn't apply, I just include it for completeness!)

    How to troubleshoot build failures:

First, make a blank project with a single blank scene and prove that it builds successfully.

If the blank project does NOT build, go fix your Unity installation or your other tools, such as Android SDK, NDK, JDK, etc. It may even be necessary to change to a different version of Unity3D. It is generally best to stay with LTS versions of Unity3D.

Until you can build a blank project to the target platform, don't fiddle with anything else.

Once you can build a blank project, now bisect the problem by bringing over parts of your current project and building it one subsystem at a time, perhaps stubbing things out that might trigger compiler errors.

Most often things that prevent building are third-party libraries such as Firebase.

Once you identify the subsystem, go to the documentation for it and make sure you are doing it correctly.

It may also be helpful to work through a tutorial or two for whatever subsystem is making the build fail.

    Android build not building:

Recently (circa July 2022) there have been reports of Unity's installer failing to install the Android Tools.

Here was how I brought up Unity2020.3.41 and the Android SDK 31 on October 30, 2022:

The difference between my home installation that I can think off; is that I installed the SDK tools into whatever directory Android Studio wanted to for API version 32 iirc. On my office PC I dropped the SDK into the unity folder for the sdk instead.

I am unsure why, but the installation at home actually throws errors that either unity could auto-resolve or that were easy to fix. My office pc does not give me any such information... I had assumed it was because I am not an administrator on my office pc, but having tested an account with admin I can say that is not the case...

having a look at those links, both method seem correct and should work. But installing the SDK into my unity editor folders did not work for me.

I've only gotten SDK 31 to work personally, as I read 33 didn't work yet (as of October 2022).

Don't know what the status of 32 is.

Check also that the paths are where you expect (Unity preferences).

EDIT: in another context with Unity 2020.3.38f1 we are using SDK 32 with tools from 30... this frightens me but it appears to work as of December 22, 2022.

I reinstalled unity, as well as android studio and did a full reset of it all. That still did not work. I redid the process on my home pc and it worked immediately. Going to assume there is a sort of permission issue...
