Bug Android build crashing on startup in 2020.1

    The project I’m working on, once upgraded to 2020.1, causes the Android build to crash on startup. The iOS build works fine after updating. It started happening while 2020 was in beta and I hoped it might be resolved by the final release, but it is still the case.

    Anyone seeing anything similar, or understands how to decode a logcat crash report?

    I posted about this originally on the 2020.1 beta forum, but that seems to be archived now, so posting it here instead. Using logcat, I got this crash report:

    What do you do with this? Because when I put it into the file linked at the top, I get errors. :| Please help. I really want to get my game tested on my android. :(

    Edit: I actually figured out that you said, to remove that line of code, I did that, and it built without errors, but my app still crashes when opening it on my android. It just errors and says, "Unfortunately 'app name' has crashed."

    I found the issue being missing Unity 2020.1 the missing il2cpp build setup configuration on the Gradle File.:

    Make sure the following is at the end of the mainTemplate.gradle after upgrading:

    3. **SOURCE_BUILD_SETUP**

    That might be a different issue. The IL2CPP_ASSERT issue can be reproduced with a new empty project with following steps:

    1. Install Unity 2020.1.3f1 (also tested with 2020.1.1f1)
    2. Create new project and switch to Android platform
    3. From Player Settings, set "Scripting Backend" to IL2CPP and "C++ Compiler Configuration" to Debug
    4. Build and run

    As a workaround, either comment out the assert in LibraryLoader.cpp or set compiler configuration to Release.

    Is there a bug report and someone working on it?

    As far as I am aware, it is fixed, certainly as of 2020.1.6f1 -- it seems Unity themselves permanently removed the IL2CPP_ASSERT line from LibraryLoader.cpp -- not sure if anything else changed.
