Alternative to unity?

    hello, everyone can suggest me an alternative to unity with simila sintax?
    unity have SO MUCH bug and today after days and days of works it show me this error when i try import my previus custom package:

    i can't resolve this and it freeze my program...
    And i try to do it because withnot any reason my app android crash randomly withnot ANY message of error.....only close itself....
    i also have VERY MUCH problem with crash of unity randomly (that not save my scene with loss of hours and hours of work.....)
    and problem with so much other bugs.....
    want work with better engine.....every one can help me?
    any suggestion?

    Lock in five, four, three...

    Anyway Unreal is the most popular alternative. Game Make Studio is good for 2D games.

    Then there are some odd balls, like Cry Engine, Lumber Yard and Goddart. Google game engine and see what comes up.

    For many platforms native is also a valid option.

    You've probably coded an infinite loop that's allocating infinite memory, or something.

    All the major engines are going to be buggy, and the non-major engines are going to be worse.

    A quick search reveals that Vuforia was reporting an error along these lines at some point and that it was Vuforia's own fault.

    The first two don't make it clear who was at fault but the last one makes it clear that Unity was not the culprit.

    Yes, but not on the topics you're concerned about. For starters we need to discuss why you lost hours of work. We could spend a very long time trying to ascertain what caused the problem but that's not why you lost so much data. The reason you lost it is because you are not using a version control system.

    With a proper version control system you wouldn't have lost more than one commit worth of data. At most we're talking a matter of minutes. Set aside what you are working on and be prepared to learn to use a VCS. Now before you allow any more data of this magnitude to be lost. Because losses like that can happen with any engine.

    Secondly, the community is the best place to start inquiring about a problem you are encountering but be prepared to provide the necessary information for us to make a recommendation. This particular situation is a bit of a special case though as it's very clearly happening with third party assets and most people don't go around listing every asset they're using in a project.

    Finally, switching to another engine may solve your immediate problems but you will encounter other problems that engine is currently facing. Learning how to identify the source and determine a workaround for bugs in the engine and your game is simply a fact of life as a game developer. Better to start learning with the engine you already know than one you don't.

    it is not a problem about loop
    i have try to import the exactly package in 3 different clear project, 2 time it freeze and one....not...and i have done exactly the same thing....

    and ok, i can use version control system, it is my fault, but for me is absurd that withnot any reason it crash randomly at least 1 times at day with a simple android project in about 180M....

    and it absurd for me,t for example, that engine not find a script (Getcomponent<script> = no reference exception), but if i create another script with exactly the same content (contr+c contr+v) with another name it works (Getcomponent<script1> = it works)....

    ALL i changes between the version what works and the version that not works is about 5 images, light, settings and another scene....nothing else, nothing.

    i not tell you another info because i do not know what else i can tell you....what can i tell you what information is needed?


    i am starting to make gaming and I met many bugs, too much for me, i spend more time to make work around that in make code....

    i am only think about change engine.....
    Because now i can, but more i wait more work i must restart.
    only this.

    but if you tell me that is "normal" that every engine are buggy ok, i will accept this...

    For starters what is the package? Which version of Unity are you on? Just be prepared that the solution may require you to use a different release as not every package is compatible with every release of Unity.

    Android applications usually do not crash "without any message", the problem is that in order to get that message you need to have android debugger attached. Google "debugging android applications" and "adb logcat". You'll have piles of data.

    Have you tried contacting package developer?

    the version is the last 5.4.2f,
    the assets is my personal package:

    if i import single folder not display any error but crash after 1-2 minutes...if i import all folder it display me the problem on first post....

    the skybox is "nebula skybox" that i have already use with another game and not have any problem

    and if i import the first 2 or the second 2 it import it correctly.....
    if i import 3 folder at the same time it not work...if i import 2 folder it works....i have try ALL combination....it is absurd.....

    You could try re-installing Unity. You could also try Unity 5.4.2p1 from https://unity3d.com/unity/qa/patch-releases

    There was a major bug in 5.4.2f1, so if you have that version you need to immediately upgrade.

    Overall, most of us have not seen a bunch of crash bugs in Unity, so there is no reason to assume that is normal.

    Sound like you need to do a HDD format and full re-install of your PC, or maybe you could have malware or virus? It could also be hardware related, Power supply issues, RAM issues etc. I am using unity 5.4.1f1 and it has never crashed for me. So I think it could be something along those lines(Unless you are using a Beta version). But start with a full re-install first and see if it solves the issues, the problems you are having doesn't seem normal to me.

    Can you post the editor log from the crash? Do you have a crash dump?
    Have you filed a bug report?

    not are external assets the problem....
    by the way Game Maker is only for 2d? and what is the language base? C#?

    in first case thank you so much for reply I appreciate it so much
    now i have not the crash log, and the fatal error i have post not give me any log, it just freeze

    yes, i send a report log to unity.

    what also can i do?

    the crash issues is not a PC problem because it happens with different PC....

    Maybe downgrade and re-install unity 5.4.1f1 (as that version has been rock solid for me) and see if it can solve the issue.

    i update to version 5.4.2 just today because i hope this will resolve my problem
    and the problem is present also with versione 5.4.1f...

    Unless it's something with an extension, or coding issue, I would recommend a full re-install of your OS anyway. It's not always computers behave rationally. As I am building my own PCs, I've seen my fair share of really weird stuff that only a formatting of the HDD and re-install of the OS that helped. Saved me lots of trouble shooting and sleepless nights when these weird errors pop up.
