Please read the HOWTO on how to import scenes from the most common 3D applications before posting questions in the forum. The Unify Home Page also has a tutorial on how to get alpha channels in Photoshop to play nice with Unity.
It would be nice if the FAQ included a little more detail. If you naively transform (e.g. scale) a blender object and then import into Unity the scaling is lost; you can fix this in Blender, and it would be nice if this were explained in the FAQ/docs. Similarly, someone asked a question about IK animation not importing from Maya into Unity which was solved by setting some option in a less than obvious (to me) preference dialog. This seems like something that ought to be in the FAQ/docs.
What we really need is a single, simple table which shows key functionality crossed with different apps and gets updated appropriately. This would be extremely helpful in allowing users to pick a package that suits their needs, or tell at a glance what limitations a given workflow is likely to encounter. E.g. 3D Packages Maya 8 * Maya 7 Cinema4D R10.x ** Cinema4D R9.x Lightwave R9.x * Lightwave R8.5 Lightwave R8 XSI 5 *** XSI 4 *** 3DS Max 9 (FBX) *** Blender ** Blender (Collada) ** ... * Intel Mac version announced, but no definite date ** Intel Mac version available *** Widely used non-Macintosh 3D software Features Direct File Support (vs. Export) -- Maya C4D only?
